Should I wait or book soon?

My DH just announced he has a conference in September at the Contemporary. His company will pay for those 2 nights, but we will add 1-2 nights before the conference on our own. We probably won't stay at the Contemporary those nights purely because of cost. Since the buzz is that free dining will be announced shortly, should I go ahead and book those nights, or wait until June when registration for the conference starts and see if they offer a discounted rate for extra days. Or, because we are going to Disney in 2 weeks(unusual for us - we can only go once every few years), should I wait and look for a bounceback offer for September while I'm there?

Finally, I just want to say that I'm happy I finally registered here, since I've been lurking for awhile and am an avid listener of the podcast!

Thanks!

WELCOME TO THE DIS!!
I always feel more comfortable booking as soon as I have ANY inclination. I think that IF you get a bounceback, you'll just make the changes necessary, BUT if you don't even get an offer for a bounceback, you're already ahead of the game because you know you're covered.

With time to cancel it seems like a no brainer! :rotfl:

Have a FABULOUS time and Good Luck

Go ahead and book and you can even make a payment but don't pay it off; once it is paid off cro can't adjust for a discount or make a cheaper resort change. They can, however, always take more money.

You will most likely get convention rates, but will definitely not be eligble for free dining with a group rate. The block of rooms that are set aside for groups, usually allows conventioneers to book at the group rate for up to a week, so you can either take the group rate and stay at CR or book another resort and hope to add free dining IF it's announced.

I'm sorry but I don't think this is true. I have booked reservations in the past and have had them paid in full when a discount has come out. I have always been able to make changes and have had the money refunded to my credit card. If you make changes when you are within 45 days of travel that results in a lower package price, they will charge you a $50 change fee.
