Should I wait for a deal?

I just put in for my Jan. vacation at work, Jan. 7-15. I was going to just book my trip but if a code or deal comes out later can I modify my reservation?

You might as well book so at least you know you have the resort/room you want. If you have AAA, you could book a room-only reservation and change it if a package or some other deal comes along. Worst case scenario, you may have to cancel your existing reservation and then rebook under a code special, but you can do that in one phonecall and just transfer your deposit.

By the way, a room-only reservation requires a one night deposit, and its refundable up to 5 days (I think) before check in. So you really have nothing to lose...

you can book using a AAA rate without being a AAA member yet. You don't need a membership number to book the reservation. You only need the membership card at check-in.

So.... I suggest to book through CRO asking for a AAA room only rate. Then you can sit back, wait, and see. If a better deal comes along, as the above poster mentioned, you can cancel your current reservation without losing any money as long as you're at least six days out from your vacation. If AAA is the best rate you can get, keep your first reservation, purchase a AAA membership before you leave, and have your membership card ready at check-in.

The general rule of thumb is no, but some people who booked their reservation through AAA reported also getting the free dining offer.
