Should I visit HS? How far is the handicapped lot? Further than bus?

Hi. Trying to plan our December trip, we plan to do a quick evening visit to HS on our check-in day. We used to drive and park in the handicap lot and that was great. I usually have a cane but this trip I'm thinking of a rollater since the benches since to be disappearing. But I wanted to hear from folks on here - how is the walk from the lot or bus? I can do either but looking for the best option for closeness.

Generally my preference is to drive, if the distance is a wash. I tried searching but all the info seems to be from the fall.

Thanks!

Hi, sharadoc. The handicap lot closest parking next to the new tram drop off being constructed now along with the new Security Checkpoint structure.

The bus drop off is a little further back, but depending on how full the handicap parking lot is you could park about even with bus drop-off.

This is a photo from BlogMickey and it shows the parked cars in the photo for Handicap Parking and the bus dropoff is lower and not pictured. Higher in the photo is the construction of the new Tram drop off a turnaround and the new Security Check Point construction.

To the far right is the medical or Handicap Parking with the Disney Skyliner Gondola station building and the Disney Restrooms building. Then the larger area to the left is the under construction new covered bus stops. Not much difference between parking and bus unless the Handicap Parking lot is full.

THANK YOU! This is perfect, I never look at that site (I'm DIS only lol - I should expand my Horizons). So looks like the handicap is basically in the same spot, but a bit bigger. Hopefully going in the evening on a 5 crowd day should get a spot in the handicap.

You're welcome. Most photos are from bioreconstruct and recently from BlogDisney.

The handicap parking is in about the same place, but it will be closer because the took out the old Disney bus stop and put is next to the Tram loop.

The handicapped parking was enlarged, but still not really that big.
The third picture shows the handicapped parking quite full - and then look how empty the area labeled ‘General Guest Utilized First’ is.
On April 11, I measured our walk out from the park entrance to our bus (Old Key West), which was not one of the farther stops. It was 2/10 of a mile. There were still some construction walls up, but I think the route will be the same.
