Should I upgrade?

We are thinking of upgrading our 8 day park hopper tickes to AP's. I was just wondering what the benefit's are discount wise? How much of a hotel discount do they give you?
When I called Disneyland travel I found out the price difference is only about $30/per ticket. I am looking at my calendar and I think I could squeeze two more trips in by the time my AP's would expire.

I'm really trying to weight the pros and cons as I live in Canada and it's a two day drive (and my hubby won't fly). I get 3 weeks holidays every year, I'm using 2 up from March 29th-April 8th. But I think I could fit another week in October. And then in January my holidays start again so I *could* plan another trip for March.

Is that Disney over kill? :confused3
Any opinion would be great.
TIA

If you guys enjoy Disneyland, it's not overkill. If you want to go, it's not overkill. :)

Hotel discounts vary widely. During a normal time of year, it's a 10% discount on the Disney hotels. But during special times (or times when they are wondering where everyone is and throw specials around like they're candy) they have deals like the current "AP8" deal, where you can get PPH starting at 139, DLH starting at 149, and so on. And that's a significant difference from normal pricing.

With the Deluxe pass, there are blocked out dates, but the calendar is online of when those dates are. You get 10% off most food at DLR with your AP. With the Premium you get 15% off most food and 10% off most merchandise. And there are no blockout dates with the Premium.

We upgraded our 5 day hoppers to APs during our Sept '07 trip, and then got new APs after they expired...we enjoy going often and we have different things we want to do during each trip...we still haven't done everything, and we enjoy finding new favorites. We've enjoyed, and continue to enjoy, having APs, even though we don't live closeby.

Currently DLR is offering this to AP holders for rooms-
