should i upgrade iphone 4s to iphone 5s?

I can't decide if I should upgrade or just wait. My phone has been acting funny with charging and battery drain, so I was set on upgrading. Target has a good deal right now where i'd trade my phone in and it would only cost about $20. I called apple today and they were able to check my phones battery over the phone. It did pass. So, is it still worth it to upgrade? Or hold out for a better iphone? Is there much difference between the 4s and 5s? I try to be fairly frugal so I don't want to spend money if my phone's fine and it was just a fluke with the charging and battery drain. The phone is only $20, but I still have to spend the $ to buy an otterbox defender.

If it were me id wait 4-5 months and get the new iphone that will inevitably be released in August/September. There's been a new one announced every summer since the early models. I'd rather wait and spend my money on the newest model rather than buy one that's new right now and it end up being the "old" iphone in 4-5 months.

But yes, the speed and functionality between the 4s and the 5s are night and day. DH has a 5s. I have a 5 and even between ours his is way faster and takes better pictures.

I upgraded in february from a 4g to 5c because I ran out of space with only 8gb. There is a huge difference and I'm so glad I upgraded!

I have a 4. I'd love a 5s or even a 5c to run on LTE. But I use Straight Talk so it would cost me about $600. For $20 I'd do it in a second.

What do you mean it's having a problem charging? It's just not charging up or it's taking too long?

As long as it isn't completely falling apart, I'd wait. It won't be long until the new one is out and you can get that one.

If you are looking at saving money you should always add the cost of the phone + the monthly bill from the service provider over the length of the contract. In most cases the no contract plans are always cheaper.

Wait! They are dropping the price to $99 in May with the release of the Phablet. I was planning on waiting but my phone died and forced my hand.

My hubby recommends against buying the phone that's on the new upgrade cycle and waiting for the mid cycle upgrade. So, he'd say to go for the 5s or 5c and wait out the 6. We just upgraded to the 5s. I see a notable difference in speed from my 4s and the retina display is so nice.

No, do not buy now. If you don't mind a 5c when the newer ones come out in a few months you will save even more because the 5c price will drop. Or, you might want the newer model.

Also, like a car, don't trade your phone in! You can sell it yourself on craigslist or ebay for twice as much. Lots of people damage their phones and buy used replacements until they can renew their plan. Used iPhones are a hot market. They don't deprecate as much as you'd think because the price you paid was a fraction of retail because you probably signed a 2 year contract to get a lower price.

I always stay one cycle behind so I dont have to pay the steep upgrade price. Just got a 4s when they released the 5's. Will get a 5s when they release the next one.

But I'm a little biased. I had no troubles with my 4S, but my first 5S completely locked up during a iOS update. Took it an Apple store and they couldn't unlock it (so I got a replacement since I had it less than a week). My replacement has had a couple lock ups for a few minutes that scare me since it responds to nothing when it happens.

This is my response but only if you are willing to have a larger out of pocket expense for the 6. Of course, current models will be even cheaper once it is out.

You can wait for the 6 but you'll be paying a lot more. I finally upgraded to the 5c. My 4 quit ringing. I went to Walmart and paid $28 and got to keep my old 4. I gave it to my daughter to use as an iPod. I am so glad I upgraded. So much faster. And I got a lifeproof case which I love! I just can't afford the price for the 6 to wait. When the new models are released the prices are crazy.

If its about saving money, upgrade now. If you want the newest, wait. Next Apple announcements will be in June for a fall release, this according to past announcement history. Rumors point towards a larger screen size. Both my dh and i have iphones on their way out. Im waiting for a bigger screen. He does not care and will upgrade when i do or when he has to whichever comes first.

Can anyone confirm if they are dropping the price of both C and S?? I am wanting to upgrade my, wait for it..... 3 to a newer one!! Would love the 5s but till cant make up my mind between Gold or lime green any advice?
