Should I trust Song??

Here's my dilemma:

We flew out of Newark last year on Song airlines - we loved it! However, we had many problems with them in terms of scheduling. (They changed our flight 3 different times, never notifying us of any of them - thank goodness I checked the flights online constantly). Anyway, here's the problem...

I had been checking their fares daily for our trip this fall & their offered outbound flights went from three to only one! Now, my husband absolutely DESPISES flying, yet he's comfortable with Song. But, I'm a little leery of them after what happened last year. With only one flight offered that day, should I be worried that it might be cancelled & we'll be left stranded?? We're not frequent fliers by any means, so I'm not sure what the chances are of this happening!

Please help! I'd appreciate any advice you can offer! TIA!

Unfortunately my DH and I will be flying with SONG again in a couple of weeks. I had the same situation in December with our SONG flight being changed and not being notified!!! It just so happend that we had a snow storm the day BEFORE our flight and our limo driver advised us to call to make sure that our flight was still on. Well we did and it wasn't!!! When were they going to tell us?? When the six of us got to the airport at 5:30 AM for our 7:30 AM flight?!? All the other airlines were flying, I don't know what the problem was!! Well, because of them, we lost an entire day at WDW! We had PS for Chef Mickey's and were going to MVMCP that evening, NOT ANYMORE (Disney was great, they exchanged our tickets and we got PS for another day, not my original plan, but . . . )!!! I was a basket case that day and SONG was to blame! We almost didn't get a flight out at all for our original departure day, but luckily we did at 7:45 PM (which was delayed about 1 1/2!).

Well, this time (May flight) they did it again, but not for weather reasons, for no reason at all! My DH was checking to see how full the plane was, and to his surprise, he couldn't even find the flight (a 7:45PM departure)!! Well, he called right away, and they calmly stated, "No, that flight is no longer running, we have you on the 2:15PM flight!" We couldn't even get an upgrade to first class for our inconvenience because THEY DON'T EVEN HAVE FIRST CLASS (oh yeah, or TV or radio?!?)!!

My DH and I are going away alone for the first time in 15 years, they better not mess it up! As it is, now our four DDs have to miss a day of school because of our earlier departure (we were trying to avoid this, hence the 7:45 PM flight booked waaaay in advance)!

WOW! I was more mad about this than I realized!!! Sorry for venting!!!

Anyway, DON'T FLY SONG!!! I won't, I will pay more instead and fly another airline!!

Thanks for the responses. I think we'll go with Continental, just to be on the safe side.

Jackie - that's horrible! I hope it all works out for your trip next month! As for our dates in September/October, I had been checking the prices daily & also keeping an eye out on how booked the flights were. Well, they started out with flights at 7:40 am (I think), 2:15 pm & 7:45 pm. First, the 7:45 flight disappeared & I noticed on the seating map that those booked there were moved to the 2:15 flight. Now, however, when I check, they've removed the 2:15 flight, too! I've checked several different combinations of dates & this seems to be the thing now! (Please check to make sure YOUR 2:15 is still scheduled!) It just makes me too nervous.

Last year, I booked a flight at around 5:00 pm, since I had to work that day until 12:00. By the time they were done moving us around (never notifying us, of course!), we had a flight leaving at 2:00 - definitely not a possibility, with my job an additional half hour away. Thankfully, I have an understanding boss & co-workers who covered for me, but if I didn't, God only knows how it would have worked out! Continental, here we come!!

Have a magical trip!

There was a reason, they took away one EWR-MCO flight to add another BOS-MCO flight, probably to compete more with JetBlue.

Delta/Song allow you to book 11 months out, however they tweak the schedules approximately every 3 months, so there is the chance that times are moved around or flights are changed. Not saying its right or wrong, just letting you kow how it is.

Another thing to keep in mind is that usually with changes such as this, there are thousands of people that the airline has to contact. With the internet and real time access to information, you are more likely to find out about it before they call you.

If you do find out your flight schedule was changed, even by a small amount, you should immediately call and "accept" the changes (or immediately call and choose new flights).

The easiest way to "accept" changes is to remake your seat assignments, which are often lost during such a schedule change.

This can only be done by phone (or mail or email), not on line.

By "accepting" the changes your chances of being rescheduled yet again are reduced.

It is also a good idea to "accept" changes quickly because once in awhile a flight cancellation results in your being moved to an oversold flight. If you call and "accept" there is a good chance you will be forcibly booked (they won't tell you that and you don't need to know that) and they will worry about asking for volunteers on flight day. If you do nothing, there is a good chance of your being moved again. The airlines may be holding off on contacting you to allow them to re-reschedule you to their liking possibly without your knowing it.
