Should I switch?

I currently have reservations for the Contemporary Tower for 12/8-12/13. It will be 2 adults (me & my sister) and 4 kids (14, 8, 5 & 2).

Am wondering if I should switch to 2 rooms at POP and save about $700.

We've never stayed at either resort. I booked the Contemporary for convenience and hopes of getting an MK view. But am feeling bad about spending the extra $700 and wondering if I should change it just for the benefit of having 2 bathrooms!

Also my DH really wants to stay at the Contemporary and since he is not making this trip due to deployment, maybe I should "save" the Contemporary for 2006 when he returns.

What do you all think?

I think I would opt for the two rooms at a value resort. Like you said, you could save your stay at the Contemporary for when you and your dh go together. I think with that many of you that you would enjoy having two rooms and as you said two BATHROOMS. We once stayed in 2 rooms at AS Sports when dbil went along with us. We had connecting rooms so we could leave the door open when we wanted to and the kids could watch tv in one room and us in the other. It gave us a lot more walking room. Plus with the younger children in your party if they need to take a midday nap you could put them in one room with the door left partially open and then the rest of you wouldn't have to worry about moving around or making noise that would wake them up. Just my opinion.

6 of you in one room sounds awfully crowded, even if that room is at the Contemporary - I think it will be pretty uncomfortable having so many people in the one room. I think it would be more comfortable in 2 rooms - and think how much fun you could have with $700!

I too, would switch. Having 2 bathrooms is great. I'll be there the same time you will and was in the same boat. I just changed my reservation from AKL to Pop. I don't think we'll be spending enough time at the resort (especially daylight hours) to justify staying at a deluxe. $700 is a lot of money for monorail transportation to the MK.

I would switch to 2 rooms at the Pop and save the $700. I would plan to stay at CR when your husband returns. Just think of all the great things you can buy with that $700. Also having 2 bathrooms when everyone is trying to shower and get ready will be a plus.

I say switch. Six people in a room is a recipe for murder. The view and location at CR is wonderful but save it for DH return. Besides it give you a reason to go again (if you need one).

Well if I had the chance to save that much money I would definitely do it. You could always use that $700 to enhance other parts of your trip (PS perhaps...).

more important than two bathrooms w/six people (kid/teen/adult mix) is TWO TV'S!!!! obviously, i say SWITCH! and use the money you save to go to the Hoop Dee Doo Revue! you won't regret it!

btw, we had two rooms at pop and loved the resort! the buses while not as convenient as the monorail, are very convenient and for my kids they were part of the "disney adventure!"

I would switch...4 beds, 2 bathrooms and 2 TV's would probably make everyone more comfortable. :)

I just read on another thread that the Swan/Dolphin is having an Mousefest special Dec. 8-Dec. 15 for $99 a night--a great discount. You can get 2 rooms there and save some money, though not as much as you would by switching to Pop. At Swan/Dolphin you are still at a deluxe resort and can walk to the Boardwalk, Epcot and MGM--or take a quick boat ride. It also has a great pool. It's a great location and you won't need to rent a car. They also have good bus service to MK.

Go to allearsnet.com and look for the Mousefest special. There's a code you need to give when you call the Swan/Dolphin.
