Should I switch from CBR to a value?

We've been to DW twice in the past and stayed at AsMo both times. We liked it well enough, but thought we would try a moderate next time, CBR. Well, we've been having buyers remorse. It would save around $600 to go from CBR to a value. Assuming there is availability, which should we switch to? I think we're considering Music or Pop. DH is interested in anything with newer rooms/ammenities. I'm interest in that too, but also what the resort has to offer on the grounds and food court, etc.

Your opinions and knowledge, please! Thanks!

I have to admit - CBR is my favorite resort. But I stay at a value resort about every-other visit just because of the difference in price. The POP is a much noisier resort than ASMo but has it's own bus...... You can tell by my signature that I have stayed at POP several times and it is ok - but the summer months it is very crowded.

Is your trip any time after mid-September? CBR's main pool and pool area is currently under total refurbishment. When it's done, it will be totally brand new and will have a pirate theme

I am not sure when you are going but I to had buyers remorse, I was booked at CSR and decided to downgrade back to ASMO in a preferred room and enjoy myself a little more, we spend most of our time in the park or out in DTD or waterparks and we were bumped last August to SSR which I would gladly take again but we only ended up using the pool once, the more I thought about it for me, it was just not worth the extra money when I got free dining with the Value, but when I was booked at CSR I did have a code which made it a little more enticing. But with Free dining I get the best bang for my buck at ASMU ot ASMO...

Plus make sure the pool is even open when you are going to CBR because I know there pool is closed for renovations.

Not sure what amenities you'd get at a Value vs CBR, but your post didn't include any reason why you booked CBR, so just change and get some sleep. We stayed at CBR and I can think of lots of reasons to stay there, but again you don't seem excited so just switch.

This is a funny thread to me because I struggle with the same thing! I have only stayed at values but want to try CBR!I love the theming of CBR but when I think about the price difference and how much I like the values, I just can't get myself to fork over the extra cash!!

Maybe next time........:rolleyes1 .........or maybe not........;)

Obviously, I'm not much help with this, but good luck and let us know what you choose!!

I would swap to a value resort :cool1: - 600$ could be your spending money for your stay or use it to do Character meals ;) , Illuminations cruise  etc.

We've stayed a value resorts and a moderate resort, I can't justify the extra cost a would rather go value :rotfl: . Most of the time you are at the parks anyway  .

The value resorts have fantastic theming :cutie: - the pools may not be as good as the higher priced resorts but how long would you spend in the resort pool :hippie: .
If you are only looking for somewhere to lay your head at the end of the day I wouldn't hesitate to go to a value resort :wizard: .
The food courts are fine too :woohoo: .

Enjoy :dance3:

me personally... I LOVE the moderate resorts and think the price difference is really worth it. I feel like it's a vacation within a vacation. I've stayed at CBR twice and it's so cheery and there is caribbean music playing all over the grounds.. it's really nice. If you are going to be spending time at the resort, using the pool, relaxing in a hammock.. I say you should stick with your CBR reservation (as long as it's after the new pool is open!).

One thing though.. I would call and request a room that is close to the main food court area. CBR is a big resort and if you are way out in one of the sections (can't remember the name of it) it's a pretty long walk just to go get food.

good luck!

Us too.... couldn't have said it better! Having said that, I'm thinking of squeezing in a long-weekend trip to POP because of the price difference!:rotfl2:

I have stayed at Pop many times and CBR once. I love the peace and quiet of CBR but it is definitely fun to go to a new resort and Pop is my favorite of the values. There is so much fun stuff to see around the resort and you can take some of the funniest photos there. Also I love how each decade of hotel has its own music. DH and I love to stay in the 80s and 90s and recall the past! haha! It is also fun to find your birth year sign and see what was going on then. If you want fun and do not mind something a little louder than CBR, I would definitely consider Pop.

Well, we tried for Pop Century, but they were full. So we cancelled CBR, and right now we are booked at Allstar Music. I don't really care for the theme, but DH likes that the rooms are renovated. Are all the rooms renovated?

I think we got a standard room at Music. Is that any further out than a standard Movies?

We might keep trying for Pop and see if we can get in. How old are the rooms at Pop?

I would switch back to CBR. From your sig it looks like you have 3 kids - and CBR rooms are larger than any of the other mods, and much larger than the values.

CBR is a lovely resort and I definitely think it's worth the extra money.

Music is my favorite, I would much rather stay there over movies or sports, but DS wanted to try movies, it is the only value we have never stayed at ( well never at pop either but I think that is too big for us) we had enough issues dragging ourselves around SSR last August and we had internal transportation:)

I acutally have been debating switching to music and telling him movies is full , it has been refurbed and the rooms are great now and if you are in a preferred room you are looking at a 5 minute walk tops in and out, and the caf is right there.

Well, I was able to get into POP! I just had to adjust my dates by one day! pixiedust: The CM seemed as surprised as we were! I hope we like it!

As a pp mentioned, the rooms at CBR are the biggest of any mod, and bigger than the values of course. I like that about it. I think all the mods feel like "resorts". The values feel like motels. It has to do with the spacing and theming of the mods. There is always a lot of green space, CBR is no exception. If it makes money tight though, I'd take value and enjoy the extras while there. Its never fun to be short money while at Disney, or worrying about amassing debt.

Any room at any disney hotel is almost always newer than the non disney hotels at WDW. You can't really tell the difference in mods and values between renovated and not in my opinion. I don't think there are any that even date to the 90s. The deluxes seem to have pretty serious upgrades when they are refurbed, but the mods and values go for function.

I'd find out what your husband is looking for in his room being refurbed, because if he is placing that much of an emphasis on it, he may be disapointed by the value rooms.
