Should I skip HS??

Skip it, it's currently not really worth going to in my opinion (we don't use park hoppers either)

Disney Studios will have a new "Sunset Seasons Greetings" starting Nov. 9th.

Also the light show, Jingle Bell, Jingle Bam, starts Nov. 9th.

Toy Story is my favorite ride(ok, tied with Thunder Mtn). I went on it 5 times last trip. The Frozen Sing a Long is really funny. Also riding RnR, march of the 1st order, Star Tours, the new One Man's Dream exhibit, eating at Prime Time...... well it keeps me busy there.

I would never skip HS. We easily spend a full day there. We look at it as an opportunity to really enjoy the day without rushing around to get everything done. Some of our favorite rides are Tower of Terror and Rockin Roller Coaster. We like to sit and eat dinner at Brown Derby or Mama Melrose. We don't feel rushed to leave the restaurant either, which is nice. We like to end the day at Fantasmic. The show after the park closes is a bonus. Plus we like riding Tower of Terror at night, and walking around each park at night. You can't do that if you park hop.

We are actually spending two full days at HS this trip, but we do go to the parks for ten days. I would say it depends on how many days you will be at the parks. We need at least two days at MK. (We actually do three.) We do 3 at MK, 3 at AK, 2 at EP, and 2 at HS. We usually do 3 at EP and 2 at AK, but now with Pandora we switched it this year.

If you don't have a park hopper, absolutely skip it unless there is something you absolutely must do there. Only 4 rides (and only 1 with no height requirement).

It'll change eventually, but right now I'd just skip it .

We will be in WDW December 7-12. Since we are not getting park hoppers this time around, we are strongly debating skipping HS and doing full days in MK instead, but I'm not sure. I hate wasting a park ticket on HS, but I do like the rides that are still open there. Thoughts???

I feel that HS is a 1/2 day park right now, especially with the removal of the best ride of the park, Great Movie Ride. We were here this week and what we did was go to HS in the morning without FP’s & had low waits on rides, had lunch at Sci Fi Dine In, and I had booked all our FP for later that day in MK with the hopper.

With that said, I think HS is worth just meandering and hanging around in, just for the Hollywood street characters, alone. They are the best characters in all of the parks, with the funniest banter. Try to catch as many of them as you can: The two ladies on the directors chairs gossiping about “the latest fashions” (aka goofing on what guests are wearing), the director with the bullhorn announcing “coming attractions” (aka funny and witty commentary on guests passing by), the hilarious lady in lavender and her crazy beau proposing to her and trying to impress her but “forgetting words”, which guests fill in, in a sort of Mad-Libs/Memory game mashup, the characters doing the bench dedicating ribbon-cutting ceremony......I love them all so much. They also sometimes come around to tables if you dine at Hollywood Brown Derby. With all the changes coming to HS, I hope they don’t take away these characters, the best part of the park, IMO, besides One Man’s Dream (now “Walt Disney Presents”).

We were the last ride on ToT last year. The CMs were so into character. It was awesome. Another night the kids just had fun doing the dance party (when they had it). We sat and relaxed and they partied for a good hour or two.

We also spend a lot of time watching the gimmicks the CMs do in the streets. It really is a fun park for us.

There was a guest woman sitting on the benches on Sunset Blvd. reading her Kindle when we were there and two of the ladies were reading over her shoulder without her knowledge. It went on for five minutes. It was a hoot.

I've always enjoyed the street characters too, but their appearances seem completely random. I never know where, when or even if I'm going to see them.

I was also disappointed in the Frozen Sing-A-Long show. Too much of it is merely scenes from the movie. I probably would have enjoyed it more if I went with my 2 year-old great niece because I'm told that she loved it, but I thought it was pretty lame except for the snow at the end.

I found the show hilarious. I cracked up during most of it.

We are heading to WDW tomorrow and opted to skip DHS this year and do an extra day at Epcot to enjoy more of Food and Wine. I am sad to miss Toy Story and Tower of Terror, it we decided to wait until a couple of the new things are finished before we head back.

That's a tough one with only four full days. Can you do HS on your arrival or departure days to at least hit your favorites there?

I'll definitely check this out. I really do like HS, but I'd hate to waste a 1 day ticket on a currently half-day park. Especially since we have a reservation for HDDR that night.

If HS wasn't a half day park for you within the past decade, it isn't now either. If you are doing HDDR, then any park you do that day is not a full day park. HDDR cuts a lot of time out of a day. We love HDDR though and highly recommend it!
