should I ride the mummy?

I had DD12 watch a youtube video. She also hates dips. She refuses to ride Fire in the Hole at Silver Dollar City because I had told there were only two minor dips and she counted three. :sad2: She concluded that The Mummy was not for her after seeing the video. I am still hoping she will change her mind.

I hate roller coasters but can tolerate thunder mountain and love spider man. Do you think I can ride the Mummy ride?

I just got back from our family's first trip to Universal. I had the same thought prior to my trip, should I ride the Mummy. My fear is the popping out of things, mixed in with the coaster part. I would have to say, you really should give the Mummy a go. It was thrilling, the coaster part was fun, very short, you're almost (or maybe I was) preoccupied looking at the excellent themeing than focusing on the coaster part. When I get scared on rides, I start counting to 120, thinking most rides only last about two minutes, but on this ride I started out counting and completely let go of all fear, I stopped counting sometime in the beginning and just focused on the fun of it all! It was a blast & had we had more time in the park, I would have rode it again!

This post makes me want to ride it right now!!!

I want to ride it too...but no one has really said..is there any steep drops? Is it similar to space mountain? I really want to ride it! I chickened out last time.

The coaster part is in the dark like SM, but I think that the coaster part of the ride is much shorter than SM. It is not a big scary coaster, it is more on the small side, just in the dark. More turny than big droppy.

The part I am not a fan of is the fire over your head part,:scared1: but my son loves that.

Silly question: does Mummy go backwards? For some reason, that causes me intense nausea and vertigo. I would hate to have to leave the park....

I would say you definitely should at least try it since it is a world class ride and one of the best in the park. I would definitely not consider it a traditional coaster. I would consider it a fast ride (it gets fast after the theme ride aspect to it). But it is super smooth, not jarring at all, I love it. And i hate herky jerky coasters, and will not ride wooden coasters for this reason. But the Mummy is great.

totally agree.

and i think your new tag and banana wearing sombrero is way kewl !!

The Mummy is FANTASTIC.

When I finally mustered up the courage to get my roller coaster on, it was my first. And as much as I love the Hulk and Dragons, the Mummy is my must, must ride, and we go a couple of times a year.

Being indoors and dark, you don't get that horrifying "I am so damn high off the ground" stomach sinking feeling you do on, say, the Dragons. I love the roof of fire too. Can't wait until my son will ride it with me. I think the theming would be a little intense for him, though.

LOVE love love Mummy, and I'm not a huge coaster fan because of vertigo. I like thrill rides in general tho. Mummy does go backwards a tad, I think, but it doesn't mess with my vertigo one bit because it's over so fast!

The one that is WELL worth a little nausea tho is the Dueling Dragons. Front Row. Thought I was going to go headfirst into the concrete it's so amazing. Hmm.. but I think I'd still pick Mummy first because I like dark rides.

It does briefly. I suggest watching a you-tube video of it.
