We'll be leaving Dolphin Sat., 3/13 and a late check-out would be a great help. Last trip we paid $30 for this, is this still the rate? Should I make the request now or can this be done at check-in?

Thanks,
Bill From PA

I don't know when you would request a paid late check outo (have never paid for that), but, the night before, you can call and ask for a free one.
I've never been refused.

Poohlovr,

I thought this was free too, but in Nov. 2002 we were there in the midst of a huge convention and at mid-week I was told that I couldn't get late checkout with or without a fee. I kept checking at the desk and finally got it for the $30 and it was the best money I spent all week. I think I'll hit them up for a freebie on checkin, and if I don't get it, I'll go there every day and try to get it for $$.

We just got back from the Dolphin and requested a late check-out on 1/16. They were willing to go as late as 2:00 for free. Anything else they would charge $30.00. She did mention that they had a large conference going on.

In retrospect, I wish we would have paid for a late checkout. Our flight didn't leave until 7:00 pm and we debated between taking it easy at the Dolphin our last day (swimming, miniature golf, etc) or going to Sea World (ugh!) We decided on Sea World just because if we were going to be at the hotel I would want access to our room after 2:00 and hated the thought of paying for it. At the time it seemed easier to go to Sea World, which DH and the kids enjoyed, although I guess I'm not a fish person. Give me Disney any day!

We just came back from 15 nights at the Dolphin and did have a free late checkout. We requested it at checkin and it was noted at that time. Bill, if you are Gold SPG you are intitled to a free late checkout (4:00pm). It is listed as a member benefit on their site.

Muffy,

SPG member, but not Gold yet. I'll just ask and be prepared to pay. It makes the laqst day so much more pleasant.

I have had a late checkout of 4pm with no fee as a starwood member although I wan't gold at the time. I believe that Disney AP holders also get a late checkout of 2pm.

Muffy,

You are right that Gold Starwood members get free 4:00pm checkout as an automatic perk, but any Starwood property desiganted a "resort" (i.e. S/D) can withhold this perk from guests if it is fully booked. I learned this form Starwood Lurker on flyertalk.com.

good luck Bill!

I wish I would have known that! We are Gold, but I never even thought to show them the card when requesting a late checkout. If I would have been thinking I would have asked for late checkout during checkin and might have gotten it.

We are SPG members wanted to ask for late check-out on 1/02/04, but we got a message on our phone the night before saying that they were completely booked for the next day and could not grant any late requests. Do not know if that happens often or just during the holidays.
