Should I put our underwear in the carry-on?

Interesting thread.
Unlike apparently all the rest of the responders, my bags get checked every time I fly. Without fail.:confused3
I must really be on a list.:rotfl:
They ALWAYS leave a note in the bag telling me it was checked, and sometimes mess things up, sometimes not so much.
I don't know what they are looking for, but since it is everytime, it is far from random. I usually have just 3-5 days undies in my carryon, in case. I've had bags come 3 days late. But also had some dragged across the tarmac and completely shredded and destroyed.
Sure sounds like I have bad flight karma.
But I can no longer make that long drive alone, so I keep flying.

Yes, that's correct, but they are the same gloves used to search the previous 10, 20, 50, suitcases. Even at the travel checkpoints where your carry-ons are inspected, the Airport Securrity Screeners don't change gloves before every search or hands-on body examination.

I could honestly care less about your crusade against the TSA. Honestly, it is getting very old!

Have a nice day.

OP, I feel the same way that you do, so I pack properly and put my undies in one of those packing cubes in my carry on. So far my bag hasn't been searched, but if it does happen the cube is mesh so the TSA can see right inside.

Also follow the below advice and you'll be fine with your carry on.

OP: know that it is possible for checked luggage to be opened and searched, though I suspect it is uncommon. My experience is that it is also uncommon to have your carry-on searched, and you can reduce the chances of that happening by packing properly.

That said, you definitely should carry on everything you need to get through AT LEAST the first 24 hours of your trip, in case your baggage is delayed for some reason. For me, that would include at least one change of unmentionables per person.

:thumbsup2

That's what we do. Panties go in one slim cube with a nightgown and bras go into another slim cube packing cube. Both go in my carry on. If my checkd bag goes missing, I'll have enough clothes for several days, but enough underclothes for the whole week.

I put both all of the underwear as well as our bathing suits in a carry-on bag, inside baggies. I don't like the idea of someone possibly touching it, even in the carry-on.

However, my main reason for doing it is in case our luggage gets lost. It's not so bad if you have to go out & buy t-shirts & shorts, but I don't want to be out underwear shopping or bathing suit shopping. For us ladies, that's hard enough to do the first time around - I do not want to be doing it on vacation!

lol! I was just about to post this. I never fly without at least 1 bathing suit in my carry on. Shopping for one on vacay would be way too depressing way to start a trip.

Pack a few extra pairs of undies in your carry on bag and don't wear an underwire bra on flight days. Some of the metal detectors are extra sensitive or, if you're a bigger gal like yours truly, your bra will have a larger underwire in it. Larger underwire = More metal = BEEP BEEP BEEP

A TSA agent once had me walk back though the metal detector with my arms crossed under my breasts and over my chest like a cross your heart bra. When the machine didn't alert the world to my dangerous undergarments she just let me pass and recommended that I do the cross my arm thing whenever I fly while wearing an underwire.

That's my two cents. Enjoy your trip to WDW!
Not necessarily going to be an issue. Most underwire bras now have non-metal support in them. I've been wearing underwire bras for decades...even when they were still metal based, I seldom had an issue. And now??? Never even a brief issue. And I've been through all the various scanners..regular, backscatter, and wanding.

Also depends on which group of employees is screened better. What part of the luggage handling geography is monitored by cameras.

I'm sure there are "crooked" TSA agents who steal stuff and I know there are crooked airline baggage handlers who steal stuff.

I don't think either group is interested in stealing the OPs underwear. I suggest if the OP has expensive lingerie costing hundreds of dollars putting it in carryon bags makes the most sense.

I think sealing a zip lock bag containing anything, even underwear, with duck tape is likely to look suspicios.
There are going to be dishonest people in every single occupation...and the TSA is no different. BUT...I truly believe that the vast majority of TSA employees are honest, hardworking people that are no more inclined to steal than you or I. Does it happen? Of course it does. And that's why we need to be smart when packing our bags.
I never put anything in my checked bags that I don't want seen, touched or can't afford to lose. And I do tend to pack in plastic ziploc baggies....roll and stuff is my packing mantra.
I do carry extra undies and a change of clothes in my carryon...as well as my bathing suit...but that's more so that I can swim as soon as I get to my hotel.
Even within my carryon, stuff is packed in ziploc baggies. All electronics go into a large one. My wallet is in a baggie within my backpack. I basically trust the TSA but I'm not going to be an easy target....there are less than honest people out there..and it could be the person in front of me who gets to the conveyor belt before I do!!!

Could you let us all know where and when you're flying??? That way we can all avoid being on the same flight as you.....:thumbsup2

People...this is getting ridiculous. Pack your bags as you wish. If you have something you don't want 'touched' then keep it in your carryon bag. BUT...be aware that even that stuff can be 'touched'. I've had my carryon bag gone through while trying to find whatever it was that set off the alarms...yeah, I had a roll of quarters that slipped into a tear in the fabric, and I had completely forgotten it was in my bag. People behind me were not amused.
Pack stuff in ziploc bags...that way it can be pulled out if need be, but your things aren't touched.
Period.

I hope I don't jinx myself but in all the years we have flown 2-3x per year, we've never had anything stolen. I'd never put anything valuable in checked luggage and I guess they don't want our typical sourvenirs.
