Should I order groceries?

Hi guys. All my plans are set I am leaving in 34 days for WDW with my husband. We are leaving kids behind this time. We usually order groceries from Garden Grocer when traveling with the kids so we can eat breakfasts in the room, but was wondering if it is worth it just for me and hubby?

We are staying at the Polynesian for 7 nights and at POFQ on the last night before going home. We plan on eating at Kona Cafe at least twice but have no other breakfast reservations as of yet. My lunch and dinner reservation are already booked.

Ordering groceries for the two of us seems a little pointless. Should I just eat at Kona Cafe/Captain Cooks most mornings. I know that I can get some breakfast stuff at the Resort store if I am really needing something anyway. What do you all think?

We (2 sometimes 3 ) adults always order from Garden Grocer. I believe I save the delivery fee just in not buying bottles of water in the parks.
We order: juice, coffee, fruit, breakfast pastries, soda , water, beer, wine, cheese & crackers & other snacks. Eating a light breakfast as we get ready saves us time & money. It is wonderful to sit on the balcony in the evening & relax with an adult beverage & snack. And lots cheaper that way too.
So for us it is a definite Yes.

We ordered from Garden Grocer (and it's also just two of us) and found we mostly just wasted money. I think it's like $50 minimum or something to get it delivered? I'd look at what you're wanting to order, and if you're adding things you don't think you'd eat to get to that amount - skip it.

We are about that many days out too and placed my and the wife's GG order at 60 days to save 15 percent.

That is my concern with a $50 min. Will I need that much food/drink? We always bring refillable water bottles for the park so don't need water bottles. That leaves maybe some bread, yogurt and fruit. Maybe a bottle of wine or beer. I could skip GG and bring some dry goods in my suitcase. Then just go to the resort store and get milk. Hmmm, don't know???

DH and I have never ordered groceries. We usually stay at the Poly and have breakfast at Captain Cooks - DH likes a bigger breakfast, but I am good with a bagel or some peanut butter toast - both of those things are cheap.

You actually can bring wine in your suitcase pretty easily (as long as you are checking the bag). We almost always bring a bottle of bourbon. I just wrap it up in a towel and nestle it right in the middle of the suitcase.

It is not $50 minimum. It is $ 40.
Sounds like you have answered your own question, it is not for you. What are you struggling with?

I still like having a few things around the room to gnaw or drink. Probably isn't strictly necessary, so if you're trying to save money you can likely skip it. But I like having my own coffee, some water and soft drinks, a box of donuts or a pastry for a quick bite out the door. We've done Garden Grocer the last 3 trips and really love it. And, this time we ordered 60 days prior and got 10% off he order!

Sounds good to me! I think I will just skips GG this time and do the QS breakfasts most mornings. My husband and I are not big eaters anyway. Most probably will just grab a fruit and granola parfait and a muffin. Thanks!

To add on...if you just like having snacks around your room, you can buy those at the resort. You'll pay more for the chips/salsa/cookies/etc. than you would ordering from Garden Grocer for individual items, but if you only need a few snacks, you'll save in the long run.

Bus to Disney Springs, Uber to grocery store, shop and then Uber back to your hotel. You don't waste that much time and it's super easy!

IN 35 days it will still be hot, so I would imagine you'll want a case of water. If that's all you want, you can order them through Staples for minimal cost.

I like having a little something to nosh on in the room.

It wouldn't be worth it to us, because we like delicious food (fatty, cheesey, sugary-you know :) ) on vacation. Granola bars or bagels are for lame home time. So is cooking-I don't cook on vacation. We just did a GG order that was totally worth it with kids (baby food, diapers, a six pack of ciders, snacks for my 4 yo) but it wouldn't be for just us. I know people who've ordered from Prime Pantry, and that was cheaper than GG. They'll deliver to your front desk and you could pick it up.

With the $14 delivery fee, it's a minimum cost of $54, or $50 less if you order in time to get the 10% discount.

I figure it this way: the cheapest breakfast entree at Capt. Cook's is $7.29. For two people, plus tax, figure $15/day. That means four days of breakfasts there will cost more than a minimum GG order. So the question is really can you order breakfast items from GG at a total less than the $15/day at Capt. Cook's, or whatever number you'd calculate for what you'd eat buying at the resort.

For us, it was. Hard boiled eggs and yogurt make for inexpensive, quick breakfast food. Through in snack crackers, iced tea, etc. to help make the minimum order, and we're ahead of the game.

But the really big savings is time. Think of how much time you save not having to wait to be seated and served or standing at the checkout in the store.

It may be a $54 cost. It is NOT a $50 minimum order. It is different.

I know, and I'm sorry if it came across as a personal criticism. But for the purposes of the OP's question, it's the total cost that's relevant. That's also why I included the tax at Capt. Cook's as part of the analysis.
