Is the Wine and Dine program worth getting in addition to our DDP? I'm wondering about the variety in selection as well as the quality of the wine offered for the one bottle/night program. Anyone have any experience with this?

From what I read it is a convienience not a cost saver.

It doesn't seem like it to me. Think of it as $40 bottles of wine, ($80 if you use the credits at the signature restaurants.) I can't find any wine menus, but I doubt any of the bottles cost that much, especially at the signature restaurants.

I would never do it myself, mainly because I don't drink a lot of wine, and also, I'm solo, and there is no way I could drink a whole bottle myself. I'd rather sample wines by the glass if I have wine, but I usually have cocktails anyway.

We are not big fans of wine anyway. But we were trying to figure out how it is humanly possibly to drink a bottle a day? Just seems like a lot. I'm pretty sure you can't pack it to take back on a plane.

I was wondering if I need to get the wine & dine program for everyone in the room (there's 2 of us). If so, that would be TWO bottles of wine/night :scared1: .

actually, if the wine was really really premium, my strategy was going to be save all 4 for the last night when we're having a 20 person b'day party! Figured it wouldn't take long for the bottles to be empty that night! :rotfl2:

But I think I'll nix that idea and just get a glass when we want one. (They can't cost more than $8/glass could they???? :confused3 )

Wine and dine plan is actually 1 wine credit per room per night, not per person.

I was recently at both California Grill and Narcosees and almost all bottles were >$40, with bottles $35-55 tax not included or so being 1 credit and $55-105 2 credits and those greater than $105 or so not eligible. If you like wine the one credit bottles could save 20% or so most of the time (also tax is included with the wine and dine price so you save the tax). More opportunity to loose in the $55-80 window for the 2 credit bottles though.

For what it is worth, only 1 or 2 house wines were $8 or less per glass, many were $9-12!

DH and I could easily show you how to drink a bottle a day. Being big wine lovers....we usually keep a bottle and 2 glasses in our resort room, and always order a bottle for supper.

I bottle of wine holds approx. 4 medium size glasses of wine, meaning, 2 glasses per person for dinner. We do tend to frequent the signature restaurants and enjoy a 1 1/2 hr to 2 hr. meal. Many bottles of wine at these rest. are in $40 to $80 range, and purchasing a bottle will usually save you at least 20% overall.
WE are picky about our wine, and many choice wines can be only purchased by the bottle not the glass.

That being said, we looked at the "wine & dine" and felt we would rather "wing-it" on our own. I remember reading, on the plan, there is a limited list of wines to choose from.

I recently was at Narcosees and California Grill and looked at the wine list (I was buying OOP). It looked like to me that every wine less than $100 was either a 1 credit or 2 credit wine, with the break at about $50-55. Only those more expensive than $100 or so were excluded.

Thanks for the info.

Speaking of Narcoosees...not to go off tops but just a little story....

Last Oct. we took my parents for dinner and Wishes. DH and I ordered an $80 bottle of wine when we were seated. After pouring 2 glasses, I went to ladies room and DH took my parents on the veranda with wine glass in hand (at the suggestion of our server) for Wishes. When I returned to our table, the busboy was clearing our table, and our half full bottle of wine was gone! I tracked down our waitress and she went hunting for our bottle, which she found behind the bar. But due to the mishap, she also comp'd us an extra bottle of wine. It made for a long trip home:rotfl: but I thought that was very sweet of her.:thumbsup2
