Should I keep my current room?

We are currently booked in room 6118. We are right in front of the aft elevators. The two cruises we have been on we were midship by the elevators. I like being by the elevators, because I like that my DD doesn't have to walk down long hallways to get to our room coming back from the club. I'm torn as to what to do. Should we try this new location, or should we stick with what we know we like and are familar with?

I am not sure I understand your concern...if you like being by the elevators then why are you worried about this room? Pls. clarify a bit and I'll try to help. We were the first room on Deck 5 beyond the aft elevators on our cruise and we loved it. It made getting up to the pool, Topsiders, etc...extremely convenient. In fact, I am not sure but I don't think we used the elevators more than 4 or 5 times the whole week!

I'm not really worried about the room, I'm just wondering if we would be happier midship. Especially so that my DD is right below the lab (this is the first year she will be able to check herself in and out of the lab). I guess you could say that is my reason for this question. I think I am corcerned that she my have trouble finding the room.

I understand your concern completely.

The aft elevators will have less traffic than the midship, so you would have that going for you. If you don't switch, a couple things you could do to make it easier for you is to:

1 - Have her start to memorize your stateroom number now rather than when you get onboard. Too much excitement going on.

2 - Put some sort of visual on your door that she could look for. Something that sets your door aside from any others around you.

3 - Go through the steps from the Lab to your room and look for visual cues to help her learn the way to your stateroom.

Just some suggestions! :)

I would think if your daughter is old enough to check herself out of the programs she would be able to remember her room number. But if you think it would be a problem decorate your door or your fish beside the door with something that she will recognize. Then she would be able to find her way home.

I never thought to put something on the door, that's a good idea. I'll pull out the map of the ship and go over it with my DD and see how she feels. I do like the idea of being closer to the tender lobby. Thanks:D

She will be ten when we leave for the cruise.

My DD was 9 the last time we cruised and we were in 8080, right by the aft elevator.

We loved the convenience of being one flight down from the mickey pool and Topsiders. She was able to check in and out of the clubs at the time and had no trouble finding the room.

We liked it so much we will be in 8080 again in January.

Thank you for all your suggestions. I just talked to my TA to see what was open if I did want to switch, and she called Disney and was told that there are no more rooms available on the sixth floor for that cruise! I had no idea that they filled up so quick (it's not till next October!!!). Thanks again.
