Should I keep Brown Derby for lunch??

I currently have a Brown Derby ADR for lunch (1pm) on Saturday of Memorial Day weekend. Looking at the menu, reviews, etc. I'm concerned that it'd be too much food for us for lunch. All the restaurants at HS are available sometime between 1 & 2, so they're all possibilities.

Just 2 adults for lunch. Thoughts??

May I ask why you think it would be too much food?

Are you on the dining plan and thus will most likely both order multiple courses?

If you want to try it, then order something lighter. Maybe get the cobb salad to share and then share a dessert. Or share an app, entree, and dessert?

We really enjoy Brown Derby and will be having lunch there on our next trip.

I guess too much food isn't right...more too heavy would be more accurate. And I've heard mixed reviews on the Cobb Salad (that was my initial plan.) My fiance will order the duck dish...I'm not nearly the fan of duck that he is

We won't be on the DP, I do have TiW.

Maybe it's the price that's getting me? I don't have a problem paying $30+ for an entree at dinner, but for lunch it seems a little high?

I guess I'm just not excited for Brown Derby and I need to either be reassured or told to change it  The last time my family went to the Brown Derby was in '96...

It depends on what you get. I'd say if that's going to be your "big meal" for the day (meaning, you'll end up getting something cheaper for dinner like pizza or hitting a CS restaurant somewhere) I would say go for it. The lunches are filling and can be heavy depending on what you get, as well as expensive.

I went last summer and filled up on their rolls (which are fantastic) and just got a drink with their filet that I think came with...orzo? Whatever it was, by the end of it I was stuffed. Another added bonus was that they had a performer going around the tables dressed as if they were from the early days of Hollywood. Not sure that this is all the time but it was a cool little bonus.

So after that long-winded explanation, my vote is to go for it. Just check out the menu first to make sure there are things you both like on there.

Good luck!

we're doing the brown derby as a part of our F! dining package on the dining plan. I was thinking about changing it but my dad was so proud to take me and my sister there 10 years ago - it was our nice place to eat that trip - that I want to go there as a memory to that trip with him

We use TIW and we love Brown Derby for lunch. It's a nice retreat from the parks and the food is great.

We don't order entrees at lunch. I order drink, an appetizer (love the scallop appetizer and the tuna appetizer) and share the cobb salad and dessert with my husband. It's plenty! In fact, one appetizer and 1/2 the grapefruit cake would be perfect for me. But our oldest son (a pre-teen) orders the scallop appetizer and doesn't think it's enough - so you might want to add that salad.

I've had the cobb salad there three times in the past year and I agree the quality can vary. If you don't like it mushy, you can ask for "lightly tossed" and that should help.

Hope that helps a little!
