If we only go once a year is it worth joining Disney Club or buying an Annual Pass?

I am planning a trip in Feb. 03 and if I don't get a post card will either the DC or AP give a rate that is worth the cost of these. Or will I get a good enough rate with mousesaver codes?

no discounts are guarenteed to be around at all. that being said. you are already planning to go in value season so that in itself is a discount. the AP is only a good deal if you plan on being in the parks for 8 or more days in one year. the disney club can get you a discount on both your room and your tickets. it can also get you discount at certain stored in downtown disney.

i joined the disney club just for the discount on my tickets. between those savings and the magazine, i feel i get my moneys worth. you also get a 10% discount at the disney store if you shop there alot. mine is about an hour away so i dont go that often.

hope i helped.

What all comes with a membership in DC? Any sort of magazine or newsletter?

you get the disney magazine. i am not too sure of all of the benefits. i have only just joined and havent researched it too much.

DH just signed us up for the DC through work...... hoping it will save us $$ on tickets, etc.

If you are considering getting even 1 AP it is worth it to join dc because it gives a discount on the passes. I think DC is the only way to get a discount on APs.

Did you go already in 02? If you are planning to go again in 2003 & 2004 you can make the APs worth it if your second trip is within 365 days of your first trip. So if you went in feb of 2003 and January of 2004 you could use them twice. I think a lot of people try to plan this way.

Thats exactly what we are doing, we joined DC first (theres a discount code out there that will allow you to get it for $31, I used it out of my entertainment book, but I have also saw it on the web) otherwise its $40.

Then we will use DC to buy AP's, 2 adult and 1 child (AP savings of $42) so we save $11 over the AP without DC discount. Not much savings, but we also get the DC membership for a year.

Then we are planing on going 2 times, Week of feb 10, 2003 & again the week of feb 2, 2004. Both trips for 6 days, 5 nights. And both technically within 1 year by AP standards. So we will get 12 days at the parks for price of 1 discounted AP.

Now when it come time to book the trip, you already have your tickets and you can get the best available discount because you own both AP and DC.(if they are better then other codes available)

Plus when we are at WDW we will have AP and DC discounts available at select restaurants and shops.

Now for my question, If I buy my APs early but they are not activated will I still receive special AP mailing?

Thanks, Nick

OK Now I'm REALLY confused. I told DH to wait until next year to sign up for DC but NOOOOOOO he went ahead and joined. So assuming we can get significant discounts on WDW passes we will renew our membership next year(our vacation isn't until 7/03). We are NOT going this year(I should be so lucky).
We are NOT staying at a Disney resort(will be staying at HIFS) so in your opinion is it even worth it? I imagine that $$$ it cost to join (think it was $30 thru his employer) would probably pay for itself with the 4 5-day Park Hopper Plus passes we plan on purchasing! OMG, I'm getting more and more confused,LOL

We just returned from WDW in Feb 02. Next trip is planned for Feb 03. I have had great luck on our past trips with deep discounts on our rooms. (paid 84 per night at CSP in Feb 02) I seem to be on the post card list. How much is an AP and what are the discounts like
