Should I guess or should I wait?

After my last post and all the encouragement given, we've decided to plan a Disney trip at FW for mid-October 2009. Here's the rub. I'm a little concerned about getting a spot if I wait to book. We want to go during Fall Break, but our school board won't release the dates until at least 3-4 months from now. I need a full-hook up site that will fit a 24 foot camper. Do I book and take my chances that the school board won't change the dates and shift it a week? Or do I wait with confidence that FW will probably have an open spot for me? I would expect to have a final school schedule by Nov or Dec.
Thx.

OK, if it was me if I could narrow it down to a few weeks I'd book a 3-week stay. Then, once the final dates are released I'd cancel all but the days I needed.

I think you could wait, we went this past end of july first of aug. and I didnt reserve that until late feb and we got everything we wanted!:woohoo:

I'd do the same if you can narrow it down somewhat. You only have to send a one night deposit if you are booking a "room/site only" reservation. It's easy to just cancel the nights you won't be using. With the popularity of the Not So Scary Holloween events I wouldn't imagine that October might be a popular month.

I agree with Tim,, I would book then narrow it down and cancel the dayz not needed. :thumbsup2

I'm going to go ahead then and book 2 weeks. I think it will be the 2nd or 3rd week of October and then when I get the schedule I'll trim it down. I wish I could just stay the whole two weeks.
Thanks.

I agree with some of the others. I would book and then take off what you don't need once you know for sure. You sure don't want to be dissapointed by not getting in so why take a chance.

This is our first trip to WDW!!! We are camping at fort wildreness Sept 09. I have a lot of questions I wasn't sure where i needed to be. I am also new to posting. Bear with me please 1st I see people using abbreveations like DD, DS, DA when they are talking about family members? What does that stand for? Real camping question If we rent a golf cart for the week can we ride to the sing along and park our cart?? Also we were going to wait to book until the beginning of the year. Will that be to late? I didnt know if they would run promotions after the first of the year. We thought we wanted to stay on 100 or 200. I looked at the campground from google earth. Are these good loops? Thanks so much for all the info anyone can give we are so excited!!!

OK, for question one check out my Message Board Shorthand Web Page

Yes, you can drive your cart to the campfire area

Book as soon as you know your dates. Discounts can be added to an existing reservation. As to specific loop requests, you can ask to be assigned to a specific loop, and they will even note a specific favorite site, but remember nothing is guaranteed!

Check out my Fort Wilderness Fun Facts and Information Web Page for more FW information.

Thank you I did check out the facts I am learning more and more:) Loved the shorthand page It will be easier to understand the posts.(now I know how little kids feel when you spell in front of them LOL) Also Natasha is beautiful. Thanks again

I too agree with the others to book now as soon as you have an idea of your dates. Booking three possible weeks at once is a good idea so you are guaranteed your week........just trim down like you said. You know how the old saying goes.......Better to have it and not need it than to need it an not have it. Just an fyi.......We too are going the last week of october to the first week of november of 2009 and we had a hard time getting those reservations for a full hook up for a 24 tt as well. We were trying to go THIS October back in June and they were booked so we just decided to wait until next year. Also keep in mind that the summers may be easier to get a spot as opposed to October due to the fact that in October the weather is nicer and disney has he MNSSHP going on etc. Thats just my two cents........for what its worth. Good luck and let us know how you make out.

Don't count on that! The way the idiots (shorthand for interesting people:lmao: ) on the camping board post it would be easier to understand a drunken otter. Of course there aren't many sober ones, otters or posters to this board! :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Welcome to the DIS

We are coming Oct 4th of this year and didn't book until mid June - less than 4 months prior to arrival. We had no probs getting exactly what we wanted, including ADR's (advanced dining reservations) to where we wanted. :confused3
