My DH and I are considering going to a water park during our next trip in April/May 2017. Is it worth giving up a day at the other Disney parks to go? Any tips on adding it into our itenerary?

I personally love the water parks! It also is great for a more relax day, especially if you have a busy schedule! Both Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach are so much fun, although I personally prefer Typhoon Lagoon! You definitely can't go wrong with a water park day!

For me it depends on how many park days you had planned and when you are going. I like the water parks, but I LOVE the theme parks. We went to Disney last summer for 15 days. We went to the water parks on 3 days. Our next trip is in October. We will be there 10 days and I don't plan to go to the water park. It won't be as scorching hot as August. We'll spend a little time at the pool at our resort.

Why not do the waterpark and park the same day? do the waterpark first and head into mk if your still up to it for the evening.. If your not really waterpark people, the resorts do have excellent pools.

We are staying at the Poly for this trip and I believe it is a pretty great pool.

A water park day is nice and relaxing, Typhoon Lagoon is our favorite. If you have park hoppers, head over early to the water park spend a few hours, then you can always go into one of the parks for the evening, or Disney Springs for a nice dinner and movie night, or go bowling... walk around and listen to all the entertainment that it has to offer. Or dinner at one of the Resorts, then watch the fireworks from the beach and the electric water parade go by.

Our last couple of trips have been longer; twelve nights in total for travel, Disney, Universal and the beach. We had a non park day towards the end of our Disney stay.We hit Typhoon Lagoon for 4-5 hours and visited Disney Springs for dinner. It helped revitalize us for the rest of the trip.

We have been to Disney a number of times in the past. If this was a first trip and only for a few days I might skip the water park.

It doesn't hurt that we added the water park option to a non expiring ticket several years ago. It cost us about $5 per person to get in. We still have five or six admissions left.

Another vote for taking a day off and enjoying a water park. If you are pounding the parks for more than a few days, it can give you a nice break. Both water parks are amazing. Both are my "favorite" for different reasons.

The Disney waterparks are an awesome experience! They renovate them one at a time in the off months (October - March), and I heard that Blizzard Beach is getting a Frozen upgrade, if you are a fan. I love each waterpark for very different reasons- as they are totally different experiences! (In the hot summer months, I kind of prefer Blizzard Beach just for the "cold" atmosphere; but I love the traditional tropical, beach feel that Typhoon Lagoon has!) Because the water parks are open from 10-5 during the time of year that you are going, I usually plan more than one activity for that day- maybe a show or dinner at Disney Springs or at a hotel restaurant... just to mix it up a bit! Although the resort pools are fantastic, the waterparks have thrilling attractions- a fun-filled day's worth!

This trip was our first water park experience, we did 8 days and did blizzard beach in the middle and loved it. It was a nice break from the heat and walking and we thoroughly enjoyed it.

I know I'm definitely in the minority here but we really didn't have any desire to do the water parks again. Then again we had a 4 and 8 year old that somewhat limited my husband and I from enjoying it together. We much preferred being at the resort pool and then being able to head to our room when we were done vs hauling all of our stuff back to the car and driving back.

We stay on-site and take advantage of the EMH in the morning (7am some days in December when we go). So after 5 or so hours in MK we head off to the water park for the afternoon. Typhoon Lagoon is our favourite, the wave pool is spectacular and the crush n' gusher is the best waterslide in Disney IMHO

It depends on where you are staying. If your resort has an awesome pool...maybe that would be enough.
We stayed at BC which has one of the biggest on-site pool areas but it still didn't compare to the water parks IMHO.

You don't need hopping on your ticket to go to a water park and a theme park on the same day but the needed water park fun costs just about $25. if you already have hopping.

If you don't have or want hopping, then it is better to buy a separate water park ticket (about $55.) instead of water park fun (about $75.) if you will only do one water park visit and no other minor parks (like mini-golf) all vacation long. Plan your entire schedule first if your priority is to get just the perfect ticket or ticket combination..

The Typhoon Lagoon wave pool is quite hazardous. You can get nasty painful knee or elbow or even shoulder scrapes on the rough bottom that will cost you much extra time rebandaging yourself and/or now fussier children after the morning shower (if you don't skip that) or when dressing up (if you do that) for dinner.

If you love water parks, go for it. I'm not a water park person, I'm content with the resort pool so I wouldn't give up a park day.

To me, it depends on the length of stay and the resort price. If it is a short trip or I am shelling out big $$ for the resort, I am going to use their pool. That said, some of my favorite days are starting out at the water park and wrapping up at Epcot or Disney Springs.

I'm waiting for the hours and EMH schedules to be released before I finalize any plans but my tenative plan is to do Typhoon Lagoon one morning, relax at the resort in the afternoon, and head to MK during their evening EMH.

Water parks are a great way to take a break from parks imho. If the trip is long enough (week or longer) and if the expense is not a consideration, I'd do it. The resort pool at poly ( any resort) is No comparison to the water park experience. Such fun!
Enjoy, whatever you decide.

meh.... unless you have extra days, and want to do something else, it's not worth bothering with IMHO. or unless you can add it on really cheaply to a ticket...they're ok,and fun, but no one in my family EVER wants to spend an entire day at one,at most just a few hours. I prefer relaxing by my hotel pool personally.
