Really contemplating whether to get an AP or not.

Hubby and i are booked at CSR from april 16-24 (8nights)with the gift card promo. It's both our first time to visit the world and we're from the west coast. And needless to say, we're super excited!!:cool1:

As i said, thinking of getting the AP, even if it's just for me, jto avail of the room discounts. But with the current promo 20/30/40 for everybody, is it still worth it for us(or just me) to get the AP? i have no idea what are the AP rates for the dates we're visiting so i cant do the math. I figured if going with AP will allow us to stay deluxe, even just for a standard room in AKL or WL, instead of a mod with the same budget, that'll be great plus the option of maybe going back later. Coz i know i will most likely do a bounceback reservation, also just in case we can visit again later this year.

Or would it be better to stick with our current ressies?

please help... i really appreciate any input

If you are for sure going before the year is up, get an AP. Otherwise, it is not worth it.

If you won't be sure until you get there and know if there is a bounceback offer, then buy regular park tickets and upgrade to an AP if you book the bounce back. There aren't that many discounts. For sure not enough to be worth the added cost.

take into consideration that with AP's you are not eligible for most of the other promotions (aka free dining) but you do get awesome room discounts. just like pp if you know for sure you'll be coming back by april 2011 then do it, otherwise keep what you have. if you do get AP's you can look into renting DVC points to stay at AKL or WL too for your next trip - always a possibility.

thank you so much for your inputs. i guess i will just keep my reservations and just see when we get there :cloud9:

The AP rates (for the past year anyway have been around 30-40%) so you would get the same deal with the room deal. Now if you are planning to travel again within the year, it's probably worth it for the park ticket savings alone. I went twice last year (one 4 day trip and one 6 day trip) and I saved $70 on the tickets alone...let alone the room discounts

I agree with just getting the AP to save on ticket costs! I'm from the west coast too and I bought an annual pass on my trip last October just on the chance that I'd be back in the next 12 months. (As you can see in my sig, I have 2 upcoming trips, so maybe the bargain hunter inside of me won out). :rolleyes1

I never do the dining plan, so I bought a Tables in Wonderland card to use with my AP. It worked out really well on my last trip with 4 adults (no kids) for dining table service. This year's trips are all adult trips too, so we'll use the TIW card for meals and drinks too.

The other perk for me is that I stayed off-site last year and with an AP you get free parking. Parking at the parks is $14 a day, so that adds up quick.

You can book resort package promotions but you would have to order tickets with most of the kinds of packages, tickets that you would save for a later vacation while you use your AP this time.
