Should I choose HOJOs or Park Vue Inn?

If your husband runs marathons, the walk from hojo's is not at all long for most people....my 3 year old had no issues with it. it is maybe 5 minutes more to hojo's from BWPPI and thats being generous with the time.
I think the poster's comment was more on the lines that they aren't being lazy, they just appreciate a shorter walk back to the hotel from DLR :goodvibes My DH and I are very physically active also, but my husband often makes similar comments when it comes to DLR hotels, the closer to the crosswalk, the better.

We chose the PVI because of the rates and the two meals and the proximity to DL. How can we lose? I hope the room isn't a real downer, but I think that everything else will make up for it. Last time we went (2008) we stayed with family and my girls (12,9,6) hated even walking to the parking lot tram. We booked two months ago and got great rates. $115 per night for 6 nights.

We are going June 6th thru 10th! Can't wait!

I had the same dilemma! I don't regret my decision now :)
We are staying at the Park Vue as the breakfast and social meal sold me.
The proximately to the park also - I have muscular problems in my legs or it wouldn't have been such an issue.

We are going Easter weekend. I will definitely post how it goes - mine & my girls first time to Disney!

Good luck!

Oh good! I know, I'm starting to think how nice it will be for my girls to have something hot in the morning versus the little cereals or muffins we got when we stayed at HOJOs. Plus even if the social meal isn't great, I bet someone in my family will eat something from there.

To the person who needs a good pool, I must say my youngest loved the Pirates Cove (I think that's what it's called). She was 5 and then 6 the two years we stayed at HOJOs. My middle girl was 9 and then 10, and she had fun at it too, but they mostly loved the garden pool. I do love HOJOs, and trust me, if that ent rate becomes available, I'll be there, but now I'm starting to get really excited about PVI, especially with the proximity since we actually do take breaks in the afternoon. I would be excited to save money with the ent rate but I bet I would be bummed to switch at this point. Of course, money is king here; more money for souvenirs and Mickey Bars! ;)

Thank you for your post! Yes, that wine sounds good. We live in Montana and will have a 17 hour drive. We are stopping in Nevada overnight - did you go all the way through??

We stop in Idaho falls for the night. We drive from Alberta,Canada so you are closer to me than Disney is :rotfl:

Where do you guys stop? We love Primm for the shopping...well I do anyway

Looks like minds have been made up, but just quickly stepping in to say we've stayed at PVI a couple of times, and have always been more then happy with it.

The first visit I was plesantly surprised by the rooms, as I went expecting them to be pretty average, but they were great.

Another visit we had I actually ended up being violently ill on check out day. They were completely booked so we were unable to just check in for another day, but they made me feel more then comfortable just hanging around their lobby for the day. Lets just say I couldn't be more then a couple of steps from a bathroom, and I had to sit down all day, or I'd fall...

The only reason I'd stay else where, is if I was staying onsite, and even then it would have to be a great rate!

I'm so glad you posted! My mind isn't completely made up because I'll have the decision to make IF the ent rate opens up for my dates. Any info about it is appreciated! Honestly, I'm not sure if I'll change if the rates DO open up. Too bad PVI doesn't get discounts!!

Ditto.

We usually stop at St. George, NV. I have never been to Primm! I will have to google it now!

Okay, so I've read as many reviews as there probably are on tripadvisor, yelp, hotels.com, smartertravel, etc!! and there have been a few complaints on roaches and a strong cleaning odor that some think is bug spray. I know not everyone will leave good reviews and most are really good reviews, but now I'm waffling!! I love the room I got, 2Queens + sofabed and kitchenette but now am a little nervous. I don't know. Maybe I should step away from my computer for a few days. :) So frustrating! I know we spend MOST of our time in the parks, but we really do take "quiet time" and swimming breaks in the afternoon. I suppose I'll just see what the reviews are for the next few months since we aren't going until late June.

Mermaidwannabe, I completely understand your concerns about Park Vue Inn. I have never stayed there but recommended it to a friend because of the proximity to Disneyland. They really enjoyed their stay. We are staying here in December. I daily read the reviews on Trip Advisor also they actually have 2 new ones this morning that I hadnt read yet which were very good reviews. If you are not able to get the ent rate at Hojos I think you will be very happy with the Park Vue Inn :)

Thank you for the reassurance 1disneynutt! :goodvibes I wish I didn't care so much about these things, but I always want us to have the best time we possibly can on my budget!

We just got home from the Park Vue Inn on Tuesday... We loved staying there. There were a few issues, to me they were smallish.. We had connecting rooms, and there were ten of us in the two rooms.. Three babies needing cribs. The rooms were plenty big enough for all the cribs.. But, the charges $5. Per day, per crib. A fee we weren't aware of until we got there. Not a big deal to most, but it was over a $100. for us at we weren't expecting to pay. A heads up on that would have been nice. But the breakfast was great. And we did the social hour every night. Not the best food, but free. We got free water bottles every morning, and my kids ate the heck out of the cookies and fruit they had in the lobby.

The water pressure in the shower was fantastic. Normally hotels have crap for water pressure, but this was great. Better then when we visit my moms house! The pool was okay, kinda small... And really deep. So all the kids were hanging out in the teeny shallow end. We did get the welcome baskets when we checked in, plus a great gift bag for my dd for her birthday. The walk was so short, it was my first time at DL not getting blisters. The cleaning smell was very strong, and since we were traveling with a pregnant momma, and three toddlers, we asked them not to spray the cleaner, and they didnt.

We really enjoyed our stay there overall... All four of us adults agreed that we would def. Stay there again... And we have stayed at hojos. To me, it blew them out of the water. Without the ent. Rate, we wouldn't stay there over the park vue inn.

May I ask what the rate is for a suite?

Thank you thank you!! Loved reading your post, and good idea about asking them not to spray while we are there! Good to hear that the breakfast is good. I would love for my kids to have something other than a muffin or cereal for breakfast especially since my middle daughter has started having some blood sugar issues! Was going to have to start her morning off with beef jerky and string cheese, lol. I really feel so much better since reading your post.

Wait a minute ~ St George is in UT!!

I say keep an eye on HoJo *if the retro rate pops up go for it, otherwise enjoy PVI

Lol, what a ditz! YES!! It's in Utah! I think that got stuck in my head because I just told my DH that we would pretty much get to Nevada the first day. So funny.

May I ask what the rate is for a suite?

Yes! For the 2Queen plus the sofabed (which comes with a little kitchenette), it is $166 per night, which does seem like a lot, but for HOJOs, for a premium 2 Queen room it is $130.90 per night with the DIS 15% plus another $15 per night + tax for a rollaway wo with tax it's $582 for PVI versus $514.46 at HOJOs. It would really be nice to have that little bit of extra room as my DD14 is starting to have issues with space when around the rest of us lol. Hope it's okay to post rates?

Thanks, We are also staying in the suite...ours is a little more, 168.00 We are staying in June also for 8 days. I have 5 kids ages 12-26 and we are planning on breakfast and light eve meal at the hotel to ease the food budget! Since we are close enough for lunches and an afternoon break or swim, we will order groceries for lunches from Vons.
Last year I stayed at Homewood Suites. It is less $ but had to add in ART for 5 for a week plus had to cook some dinners (not in the plan this year for sure!!!).
We really wanted to be up close and personal so I'm excited for the PVI!
