Should I choose HOJOs or Park Vue Inn?

We have stayed at HOJOs twice and really liked it, especially because we got the ent rate. We are returning late June, and am not feeling optimistic that the ent rate will be offered so a room for us would be $130.90/night with the 15% Disboards rate. The Park Vue Inn would be $159/night and includes breakfast and supposedly a light dinner. I love that the Park Vue Inn is closer, but the walk was okay for us (I have 3 girls, ages 14, 11 and 8) although at night, it was pretty hard to walk back.

I know what I would be getting with HOJOs, which is good, but for just a bit more, we could be closer to the gate and have breakfast.

I can't decide what to do! Can anyone help push me over the fence? I have read a ton of tripadvisor and used the search on this board and still can't decide! Of course if I could get the ent rate, this would be decided! :)

Thank you!!:goodvibes

I stayed for 4 nights at HOJO in December...Entertainment Rate...good experience and definitely will stay there in the future....short walk really and good clean quiet room. Please contact me if you need more information.

Hojo with the ENT rate is good, otherwise just alright.

Park Vue is great. Offers very nice perks unmatched by anythone near the park. And closeness is not a question when comparing to the ParkVue. It's not minutes from the crosswalk like other places it's just steps.

The "supposedly a light dinner" Is not a dinner at all unless you use it as a meal replacement. But it has light snacks and is free. The breakfast has hot items, a perk that most places do not offer. There will be a gift basket with some fruit when you arrive. And some goodies in the lobby if you stop in coming or going to the park.

Add up the cost for breakfast, a lunch or snack, that you get at the Park Vue and it will look cheaper than the slightly discounted Hojo.

What are the rooms like at the Park Vue? The rooms got fairly low scores in the Unofficial Guide, and I was wondering why, or what was missing?

I would call the social hour a light dinner. When we stayed we had "sliders" (one night was burgers, one night was chicken burgers) tacos, enchilladas, macaroni and corndogs. Then there was always a salad offering as well.

There were no limits on the amount you could have, and while it wasn't the healthiest meal by any means, it definitely was dinner.

I agree that the amount you save from all the free food/water you get more than makes up for the extra you pay for the room. We wouldn't stay anywhere else, it's always been a great experience for us and well worth the slightly extra cost.

I am having the EXACT same dilemna. We are going the first week of June and price @ HOJO is $123 except 2 nights which will be $131, whereas PVI is $123 every night.

We have also stayed at HOJO and liked it, but always had the ent rate for part of our stays. My kids are about the age as yours and the pool/play area isn't a big draw for them. Although, like you, if the ent rate were avail my decision would be made.

I really like that PVI is even closer to the parks for the same $. The bkfst is a nice perk, but not sure how much we'll utilize. (I'm afraid it will slow us down in the morning :rotfl2: and I'm in a hurry!!)

So, basically, I'm hijacking your thread to see what everyone has to say. Hope you don't mind too much. :rolleyes1

No worries! Any info is good. I think with Park Vue, you have to pay one night stay with your reservation. I'll have to check. It would be so nice to be closer... I just get to feeling unsure since I've never stayed there.

So now the only thing available is a 2Q Suite with Sofabed for $166, but still pretty close to the $145 at Hojos. With the little mini kitchen, the free breakfast and close proximity, this is what I'm going to go with unless I get the entertainment rate. I wish I knew if they were going to have it!!!! Drives me crazy not knowing where we are going to stay. For now, I'm going to scour reviews everywhere on PVI.

I say try something new!

We have nothing but nice things to stay about PVI. We stay there when we want to take a budget trip to the parks (ie: not stay onsite)- so far we've been twice.

They really strive to please their guests. Both times we stayed, they knew it was our sons' bday and they left balloons, a goody bag with tons of candy, a tee shirt (first visit), Toy Story pool toys (second visit), and coloring supplies. :)

I just reserved our room for our December trip about 3 weeks ago and yes they do charge your credit card for the first night. Did you call them to see if the room you wanted was available or did you just check the website? We got the 2 room suite with the 3 queen beds. I am really looking forward to our trip. I will have my 70+ year old mom with us so the short walk is worth the extra money we may be paying. Have a great trip :)

Oh, I wanted that same room, but they didn't have any, but I did reserve the 2Q Suite with sofabed. It will be fun to try something new. It will be nice to have a little something hot for breakfast assuming they serve it before we leave for the parks since we get there 30 min before opening.

You have a great trip too!!

And thank you for everyone who posted!

We stayed in the 2Q w/sofa bed kitchen suite at Christmas for one night (we got in early and stayed at Park Vue instead of DLH for the first night) and I loved it.

DH and I slept on the sofa bed and the kids each got their own bed. It was nice because we could close the door and still visit while the kids were sleeping.

The service was fantastic. We are actually booked there for July because I liked it that much. We didn't take advantage of breakfast or social hour but they had a fruit basket and a bottle of wine waiting for us in the room.

The wine was needed after a 24 hour drive :rotfl:

Thank you for your post! Yes, that wine sounds good. We live in Montana and will have a 17 hour drive. We are stopping in Nevada overnight - did you go all the way through??

I haven't stayed at HOJO's, but I loved the short walk from BWPPI which is next to PVI. They even have the ENT rate for the dates of our stay at Hojo, but we're still going for the short walk. And not because we're lazy - dh runs marathons! - but when I asked him what he thought he said it was no contest - the shorter walk every time. Those walks after a long day at the park can be killers!

Does anyone know if PVI opens their breakfast earlier on MM? I'll get it to go, but I was wondering if they open it up in time. We're still debating PVI or BWPPI.

I'm researching for summer, so the pool area is pretty important to me :thumbsup2 How is the pool at PVI? Comparable to the garden pool at HOJO? It looks from the photos on the website that it's not in the parking lot like Tropicana (stayed there once and didn't like that).

I had the same dilemma! I don't regret my decision now :)
We are staying at the Park Vue as the breakfast and social meal sold me.
The proximately to the park also - I have muscular problems in my legs or it wouldn't have been such an issue.

We are going Easter weekend. I will definitely post how it goes - mine & my girls first time to Disney!

Good luck!

PVI pool is centered in the parking lot. It has a railing around it and trees and bushes so it's not stark concrete and metal by any means.

If your husband runs marathons, the walk from hojo's is not at all long for most people....my 3 year old had no issues with it. it is maybe 5 minutes more to hojo's from BWPPI and thats being generous with the time.

Thanks. No wonder they have a photo from a funky angle! Something for me to ponder :)
