We are going to WDW for the very first time this September. :dance3: It's also DH & my anniversary!!
We booked our package through Disney at the Polynesian 9/7-9/12, because we loved the way it looked & the monorail!!!
Now that I read more about the Beach club & Yacht club, I think maybe I should change my resort??? :confused3 We will probably only go to MK one day out of the 6. Most of our time will be at either EPCOT or DHS. And the BC pool looks AMAZING!!!!
What do you guys think??? Keep the Poly or switch to the BC or YC???
Does the BC still show movies on the beach @ night???
Is it difficult to change our reservation? Do I just call Disney? Can I keep my free Dining?
Sorry so many ?'s!!!

Honestly I would keep the Polynesian because I think it has a lot more atmposphere and a better theme then both the Yacht Club & Beach Club.

It is available, even if you book with free dining it's still available. I believe you can still see movies there.

I really like the polynesian, but if you are going to spend most of your time at Epcot, I would try to switch, only if you can keep the free dining. I have stayed pretty much at all the resorts and any of those near Epcot really nice as well.

Have fun!

I'd switch to BC..... I loved the pool when I stayed there and Cape May is such a fun Character meal! I loved walking to Epcot every night and watching Illuminations from the bridge in China then just booking it back to the resort! Beaches and cream can't be beat either!!! :thumbsup2

Oh and Boardwalk is just a hop skip and jump away too.. there is a great dueling pianos bar there (spoodles?) that people rave about!

Good luck !!

If you will be spending most of your time at Epcot and DHS, the BC is obviously the better resort as far as convenient transportation to both those parks. But having stayed at both the BC and the Poly, we like the Poly much better ::yes::. We love the tropical surroundings and the overall atmosphere of the Poly more than the BC theming. Although the BC is a very beautiful resort, our choice would be the Poly. But you will have a great trip no matter which resort you choose as they are both great :cutie:. As far as being able to keep the free dining, that would depend on the availability of the BC with the free dining promo :confused3. Good luck and have a great trip :cool1: :cool1:.

To me, the BC doesn't seem as dated as the Poly. For Anniversary, I'd do the BC -- you'll be closer to TWO parks (should you decide to go to the parks, anyway...).

I would change to BC. Call the reservation number and ask if it's possible to change to BC. They will tell you if it is available. Your Dining should be safe.

We stayed there last summer and it was the most awesome stay we've ever had.... and we've been over 50 times since DS17 was born! The convenience of being right by Epcot was way worth the price we paid to stay there!!! Not to mention all the activities, SAB, Cape May Cafe breakfast, etc. We will definitely be back at BC!!! I love it!!!!

The Poly is my favorite, but for your plans I would switch to YC or BC. We stayed at the Yacht Club for our honeymoon and we loved it because we spent SO much time in Epcot. In fact, we went to the MK on a 2nd day and only stayed about 2 hours because we had done everything we wanted to do on the 1st day and preferred Epcot. It's so nice to be able to walk into World Showcase from the International Gateway in 5 minutes.

I would do the GF resort instead of any of the ones you mentioned. Poly was on our list when we were deciding on resorts but we decided against it and picked the GF and I'm so glad we did because after visiting the Poly one evening, we weren't impressed at all with what we saw and were sooooooooooooo glad we booked the GF. Goodluck to you and have fun :)

Honestly, if it's an adult trip and you only plan to go to the MK one time, I would say stay at the YC or BC. We did that on our first trip and didn't miss the monorail at all. It is a much more convenient location for Epcot, and especially for DHS.

The pool really is fantastic, for adults and kids both.

The atmosphere is great, views across the lagoon beautiful, and there are so many dining choices between the BW and Epcot. We really like to tour the WS in the evenings, watch Illuminations, then slip out the back entrance and you're right at the BC!! No crowds waiting for a bus or the monorail!!

I would save the Poly for a trip when you plan to spend lots of time at the MK -- the monorail is fantastic for that!

Good luck planning. I hope you have a great trip!

The kids are coming along! It will be the 5 if us @ Disney for the very 1st time!!! I figured since the kids are older & don't want to see the princesses, that we would go to MK the day we arrived for a few hours. I think we all will enjoy Epoct & DHS more!

We've stayed at the Poly and the BC.

We (DH, DS 9, DD 4 and myself) love the BC. So much so in October it will be the 3rd time in a row we've stayed there.

The kids love the pool, its so convenient to walk to Epcot and Disney Studios and the whole family loves to walk over to the Boardwalk in the evenings. There are jugglers and magicians, plus a couple carnival games. And usually once during our trip we'll rent a surrey bike.

I think either resort should be an awesome trip. I've stayed at the Poly twice & really love it there. But honestly 5 is I think, the *perfect* age for MK, and there is plenty to do for the rest of the family too, so you might spend more time there than you might imagine. And at the Poly you can either monorail it to MK or take a short walk to the TTC to catch the Epcot monorail.

If the older kids are really against spending time at MK, after seeing it once, you might split up some days. One parent takes the older kids to a park (or the pool!) for a few hours, while the other takes the youngest to MK at opening (rope drop) for a few hours & meet up at the resort for lunch. If you get to MK early (AM EMH are the best for my family) you can do soooo much w/ very little wait up until almost lunch time.

Have a great trip! :goodvibes

BC hands down for me. I love Poly, but I spend the majority of my time at Epcot and DHS. There's nothing like being a 5-minute walk from the IG :woohoo:

Good luck in getting the Yacht Club or BC for the dates. I tried adding some days to mine & all were sold out. I tried every date I could but no luck. Maybe you will have some good luck hoping you do as the Yacht Club is great !pixiedust:

I haven't been to the Poly, but I've stayed at the Beach Club - LOVED it!!! The hotel is lovely and has a phenomenal pool. If you think you'll be spending any time at the pool, then I highly recommend you consider rebooking. Also, if you like being in the action, the boardwalk is great! Being able to walk around the boardwalk at any time of the day/evening and being entertained by "street vendors" (cowgirls, magicians, etc.), renting bikes, sitting at a cafe, dining at a nice restaurant, etc. was wonderful for our family.

Good luck with your decision!

I can't imagine taking 3 kids to WDW for the first time and only planning on one day at MK? With my little one, we pretty much end up there at some point on nearly every day. We're staying at Beach Club this time around because I've always wanted to and we're planning on spending a lot of time at the pool and eating/drinking our way around Epcot (since we've been often enough and recent enough now that we don't feel obligated to get everywhere and do everything all the time). We'd put it off in the past because we wanted quicker/easier access to Magic Kingdom - the center source of happiness for our child. ;)

So, I guess if you really think you won't be at MK a lot... then, sure Beach/Yacht club. But I think Polynesian is much better suited for a first time trip with little kids.

We did a split stay at the YC and Poly in Oct 07. We did the YC first and loved loved loved it, in fact it is now our fav resort. The quiet pool and spa was amazing, no one was there for the 4 days that we were there! Had a great standard room with a garden view and it was super clean. Great friendly staff and the location was amazing. Very quiet and adult feeling resort.

Then we went to the Poly and we were so disappointed...it was a madhouse...people and kids all over, it was so packed you couldnt move. The room was not as clean as it should be. The pools were so busy at all times that we never go that chill out feeling like we had at the YC.

We would go back to the Poly for a long weekend (in fact we are in August $202.50 including tax per night which is the reason we picked this resort) but the YC is our fav for longer stays

The Yacht Club is an incredible resort!!! This is our resort of choice if all other deluxe resorts are available. We love being close to the Boardwalk and EPCOT.
The Polynesian is a wonderful resort with great restaurants, we just prefer the Yacht Club.

Have a great trip and Happy Anniversary!!!:dance3:
