Should I change my location or time of my wedding?

Okay so I thought I had it all figured out... I want to get married at the Yacht Club Gazebo the end of May @ 5pm... Well looking at the weather recently the temp. around 5pm is 90 Degrees!!!!! What should I do, I dont want my guests to be uncomfortable or everyone to be sweating for the pictures. My parents suggested that we should think about the wedding pavillion and we also talked about maybe moving the time to the morning. And the morning temp is only about 5 degrees or so cooler. My wedding is in 2009.

Has anyone got married outside in this warm of weather and have any suggestions? Should I move my time or move wedding locations?

Any suggestions would be a lot of help!

Thanks

To be honest, in Florida its a safe bet that it will either be warm or rainy during this time of the year. The weather here can be very unpredictable. The good thing, though, about having your ceremony so late in the afternoon is that it won't be as hot as it would be if you had it mid-day.

My wedding was early May at 5 pm at SBP. It was 88 degrees and I was fine, with the exception of a few minutes during the ceremony. Half way through the clouds shifted and the sun was shining directly on us. Within a few minutes sweat began pouring down my legs and I was starting to get a little dizzy. What saved me from passing out was the incredible breeze that Sea Breeze Point must have been named after. So all in all it wasn't bad.

My bridesmaids were fine because they had shorter chiffon dresses. The groomsmen were fine, because they were positioned mostly in the shade. The guests were all fine because they were completely in the shade.

But I can't even imagine what late May at the Yacht Club Gazebo would be like. I think it might be comfortable for you since you are in the gazebo, but it may be rough on your guests.

Pictures are another thing. Running around taking pictures outside was a little rough. Misty did try to keep us in the shade as much as possible though.

I would switch to SBP or the WP or maybe buy your guests paper parasols. :confused3

For me I would change location because you are right about the time not really making a difference in temperature. However also think about the ceremony time, its only about 30 min. If you use a cool program that is a fan or have mini fans that would keep everyone cool for the time you are out.

After living in FL for so long I just don't like the heat. If you are really sent of the Yacht Club then do it. If you are flexible about locations and don't mind changing then I think the WP would be great because of the a/c, but you still feel like you are outside because of the windows. I had originally wanted the YC but then they told me the WP opened up and I picked that sucker up.

I'm sure you will be able to come up with something!

I agree, it was only uncomfortable for a little while and as it got closer and closer to sunset, the temperture/weather felt perfect.

Part of why we didn't choose a morning wedding and brunch was because it would mean that we (+ guests) would have still been moving around outside at around Noon. And it was important for us to have all aspects of our wedding were outside. Mid day would have been unbearable.

We got married at noon at the Gazebo, in late April. It was pretty warm, but I knew it would be (Florida native) so we just made sure to be prepared: my dress was very simple and not heavy at all. DH wore a suit (not made of wool, thank God), and once the ceremony was over, we told everyone to move back inside the hotel to wait for the limo.

DH and I walked around to the Boardwalk Hotel to get some additional photos with Randy, and it did indeed get a little warm, but at least our guests were comfy (I just really wanted those photos, lol!). I know a few brides who have gotten married in the dead heat of the summer (i.e., July/August) and it turned out ok for them. You just have to be prepared and consider your guests.

Or, switch to the WP with its fabulous air-conditioning (not an option for us since there were a grand total of 16; we wouldn't even have filled the first pew, ha ha). It's more expensive, so you'd have to budget for that...

Well I am a fainter (hence the need for us to have a January wedding) and that is one of the reasons we are at the Wedding Pavilion. It is great because we don't have to worry about weather, hot or cold, and we don't have to worry (too much) about rain etc.

Don’t know how many guests or bridesmaids you have
but parasols’ in the sun would make a great picture

it will be a little warm, but the heat normally breaks about 3 or 4pm
the location is just so pretty in the summer
i'd try to think of some ways to give your guests a little shade
either before or during the ceremony

We did a 10am at the Gazebo on August 1st. It was warm, but the gazebo does have a ceiling fan in it. During the ceremony you are in the shade and during the cake, etc...they set eveyone up in the shade. More importantly is FL is notorious for afternoon showers. So if you really like the gazebo, you might want to move to a morning slot. They let you go indoors to cool off when needed between photos, etc...

We did photos, went back to our rooms to change and met up at MGM for a 2pm 'luncheon' informal reception at Prime Time 50's.

I "wilt" in the heat and survived just fine, so I wouldn't worry about that. I just couldn't justify an extra $1000 for the WP to be indoors, personally.

Thank you so much for all of your feedback... Would love to hear more peoples experiences etc.

For those of you who have gotten married @ the YCG during the HOT months, do your guests complain? I know the ceremony is about 30 minutes..

If I do decide to stick with the Gazebo what time sounds better 10am or 5pm? For people who have had a 10am wedding do you feel rushed to get ready, are some of your guests late? Those two things concern me.

Thanks again :)
