Should I cancel Sci-fi?

When I first started planning my trip we had 7 TS meals on the dining plan so I planned 7ADR's plus Ohana breakfast and Sci-Fi lunch OOP. We have changed our trip to stay 5 nights onsite and 2 offsite to go to Universal. So now we have only 5 TS credits. I don't mind paying OOP but am worried that we will have a bunch of counterservice credits leftover and will hate to see them wasted. Thinking about canceling Sci-Fi to eat lunch at Pizza Planet(which I have been to and don't mind). I have never been to Sci-Fi and have a 5 year old girl. Am I really missing anything?
(we will be having dinner at Mama Melrose with the Fantasmic Package)

Sci Fi is one of my favorite places for lunch. If you decide to eat there, especially for lunch, you and your daughter will love it. It is so unique and the B-grade movie trailers are fun. It's a place you will remember for a long, long time.

Another vote for Sci-Fi! It is much better for lunch than dinner and it is a memorable experience.

Here's another vote for keeping Sci-Fi. It's one of our favorite places to go each trip, more for the atmosphere than the actual food. Maybe try going in just for shakes and sodas if you want to use a counter service credit, which is what we did in December. The Sci-Fi trailers and the fact that it's so quiet make it a really nice place to stop off for a bit in the middle of the day.

We like both places but would prefer Sci Fi over Pizza Planet. Also, there are a lot of coin operated games at Pizza Planet that will be very tempting for your daughter. Pizza Planet can get expensive as my kids can burn up the coins fast (and then beg for more)!

You can always use counter service credits for breakfast. Sci Fi was really fun when we went several years ago. For some odd reason, we have to eat at Pizza Planet every trip.

I'm going to vote against Sci Fi. My reason is that if you are a party of only 2, you will more than likely be seated in the back row of the car, behind a party of 4 strangers. The food is not all that great and I just don't think that a child is going to enjoy it as much sitting in the back.

If you're eating at MM for the Fantasmic package the same day, then yes, drop Sci-Fi. In fact, when we did the Fantasmic package, because it's such a weird time, we only had breakfast, then a small snack, then MM, then another snack. Because it was halfway between lunchtime and dinnertime. I can't imagine doing a TS lunch beforehand ... TS breakfast, maybe.

But otherwise, I'd pick Sci-Fi over MM if Fantasmic weren't a consideration. And I'd definitely pick it over Pizza Planet.

It's actually going to be my husband, my daughter and me. I just forget to mention to him b/c he eats wherever I say we are eating. So how will the seating work with 2 adults and one child?

Also are ressie is for 11:15 and Mama Melrose is 4:35

Then you will probably be seated in the 2 first benches in the car. Your daughter can sit in the front row all by herself and be the driver and you and your husband can sit behind her.

If you want to go just for the experience and not spend a ton of money there, you could just order milkshakes and pay OOP for them, the best thing on their menu.

I would definitely vote yes for the sci-fi theater! It's always been one of my favorite restaurants at wdw, and it's something your daughter will remember for years.

My family has been going to SciFi for years and really enjoy every trip there. We usually get the burgers, fries, onion rings and sometimes their milkshakes. I also tried their ruben and liked it alot and my son tried their ribs which he also liked. I don't think that your daughter (who is five?) would enjoy sitting alone in the front seat as the lighting is subdued...although I don't know how independent your little girl is. When our sons were younger one parent always sat with one child...in your case one of you could sit with her and the other either in front or in back. Some people try to squeeze a small child in between to sit three (like a car bench seat) but there's just enough room for two adults. Also you do have to request the "car" ahead or they might seat you at a table instead.

My mom and I ate here during our August trip. We had the free dining plan. We went for dinner, ordered the cheeseburger and split it. It was very big and one of the best burgers we had at DisneyWorld. Fun atmosphere

Love Sci-Fi. Great burgers and shakes and a very unique atomosphere. I don't really think it matters where you sit in the car; however, if not using ddp, they might try to put you at a table instead.

I'm pretty sure where they seat you has nothing to do with whether you are on the dining plan or not.

I've been to Sci Fi at least a dozen times and the only time I've been seated at a table was when I didn't have an ADR. I've only used DDP points on one of those viists.

While I really enjoy Sci Fi I don't think I would do it if I had a Fantasmic package at Mama Melrose.
