Should I cancel my Coral Reef ADR?

Hi guys,
I am leaving for Disney in 4 days with my husband. This time around, we are leaving the kids behind and doing an adult only trip for our wedding anniversary. I have all my ADR already made.

My debate is this, we kind of want to try "drinking around the world" (in moderation of course). However, I don't think I can handle all that alcohol without snacking or eating in between drinks. I only planned one day at Epcot so can't do it on two separate days.

For the moment I have an ADR at Coral Reef at 12:30pm and an ADR at Via Napoli at 8:30pm. Should I cancel lunch at Coral Reef and just snack/drink in the world pavilions instead? I always wanted to try La Cava de Tequila, the Wine Cellar in Italy and the bar at Rose and Crown but I know it can get quite hot in the afternoon at Epcot. My plan was to eat at Coral Reef then head back to hotel to escape the afternoon heat and crowds, then head back to the park around 4:00 or 5:00pm.

We've never tried Coral Reef so don't know if we'll like it. I booked it because it seemed like a romantic venue. Via Napoli, we tried on our last trip and we loved our meal there so my husband insists we keep this one. The park is closing late with EMH 'till 11:00PM so we still will have time to enjoy the park after dinner.

What do you think?

I think your plan sounds good, and if you do decide to go to Coral Reef, you must order the Jack Daniels Bailey mousse dessert. It's divine! :)

Have fun with your husband. :)

Romantic? no. It is a restaurant VERY popular with families with young children and it is a very loud restaurant. We went for several years (all adults) and it is now off the list. I would much rather do the nibbling around the world and focus my day in the World Showcase. There are so many great snacks to try.

I must agree with the Bailey's & Jack Daniels Chocolate Mousse (Love it). I also had a very good steak there.

It is very loud and chaotic. IMHO Iit is more fun and romantic to try different foods around the showcase. Also, different foods bring out the yummy taste of the alcohol.

I'm a little confused about your timing. Were you planning to go around WS before Coral Reef or when you returned to EP in the afternoon? If the plan is to drink around WS before the 12:30 pm ADR, I would definitely drop the ADR as you've only given yourself an hour and a half to get around WS. There are so many great snacks and QS in WS, there is really no need to rush around it to get to an ADR at Coral Reef which is mediocre at best.

I would drop it because I don't like doing two TS meals in one day. I would rather drink and snack my way around the world then go to my dinner ADR later.

I would drop it because it is NOT romantic at all. It is loud and hectic. If you want a romantic TS option, look at San Angel Inn. It is lovely inside, dark and candlelit.

I'm surprised at how many of the positive reviews of the Coral Reef, ostensibly a seafood restaurant, praise the steak. It makes me want to go to Le Cellier just to order the halibut.

We always go before or after the crowds and at those times it has never been loud. If you can change your reservation to 11:30 and eat light, you can still do somethings in world showcase. Why not just do an appetizer and dessert at coral reef?

Definitely snack around the world! There are so many things you and your husband could try together, Coral Reef menu never really intrigued me personally, but to each their own. Are you and your husband big foodies?

Hi there, no I am not planing on doing WS before lunch. I have FP in the morning in Futur World and want to get those rides done before lunchtime. The original plan was to do the rides, then go eat lunch at CR and then head back to the resort in the afternoon. Then come back to the park around 4pm to visit WS until my ADR for dinner at Via Napoli.

But now I think I will just take everyone suggestions and cancel CR and go straight to the WS around lunch time so that I can drink and snack there instead.

Oh man that sounds so good but I think after reading some more reviews I will skip it this time around and go with the kids on our next trip to Disney. Thanks anyways ;)

Oh thanks for warning me. I thought it was going to be romantic with the aquariums but I guess it something my kids would enjoy more. I will go back another time and try snacking around the world.

Sounds good to me! Thanks for the input.

That would be a good plan but I have a FP for Soaring at that time. :thumbsup2

I would have "lunch" in the wine cellar . My husband and I shared a platter of artichokes, olives, and bruschetta that paired so well with their selection of Italian wines. Very romantic!

I would drop it because it's not very good. We have avoided it but finally broke down to try it on Monday, just to check it off the list.
Won't be back. It's avg food. The aquarium is cool but I can eat at Aquarium Cafe up the road in Nashville so it's not unique in that aspect.
Service was all right. Not bad but not outstanding either.
I had better fish dishes at any number of places at WDW.
There just was not 1 thing that would bring me back.
Not when there are so many much better places to eat in WS

Another vote for snacking around the world. There are small things you can order at La Cava, Rose and Crown and the Wince Cellar. Plus there are other good snacks in some of the different quick service places.... hummus in Morocco, hot and sour soup in China, all sorts of things at the Le Halles in France, sushi in Japan..... you get the idea.
