Should I cancel Chef Mickey's reservation?

I have a 7:45 reservation at CM on the first day of our trip. Originally I thought it would be a great way to start things but now I am concerned that we will have to wake up at the crack of dawn to get transportation from our resort (POR) and then I'll be stressed during the meal that we won't get to MK right when it opens. I'm just hesitant to cancel because I know it's popular. We've done the dinner buffet before but never the breakfast. Any advice? Sorry if I posted this on the wrong board!

We always do CM breakfast. But I get what you are saying. Could you get a taxi? That would cut down in transportation time. As far as not getting to MK before opening it will be a stretch. I'm sure you'll get seated on time but that's only an hour and 15 minutes to eat AND see the characters. Maybe try to get an earlier one? We do 2 MK days so one day is RD and the other we sleep in a bit and do CM.

Had the same situation, booked Star Wars breakfast for ONLY time they had the week we are there 8am on our first day when the park opens at 9 and we will arrive at ??? time the night before (planning for 10 or later). So, I kept it until upon calling back was able to switch to same morning, only 10:30am. Much better! I wasn't looking forward to waking the kids that early to meet Darth Vader, they may have performed the 'death grip' on me. :darth:

So, I would hold it until the last possible moment for cancellation penalties, probably by then some other time or day more appropriate for your trip will pop up. But, if nothing else does you can decide last day (not minute) whether its worth the strain or stress. For me, that meal would not be worth it and I would let it go.

What day is your reservation? My family scheduled a dinner for Nov 10 but now we are looking for breakfast at Chef Mickey on a different day.

My reservation is really soon--June 9. Thanks for the advice. I think we will just cancel so we can definitely be at the park by rope drop.

We've down both breakfast and dinner and I thought breakfast took a lot longer. Mostly due to many families are there with smaller kids so they spend more time with the characters.

You can definately get there have the brunch and maybe see 1 or 2 characters but if you want to get the whole lot plan for at least an hour and half if not 2 hours.

Not that I'm a park touring commando but it just feels like a big clock is ticking in my head and we're missing prime park time.

Thus my preference is dinner so we can just relax, eat and spend time with Mickey and company :)

We will be staying at POR and plan on taking a taxi to Cape May for breakfast. I figure this may help with the stress of not having to worrying about buses.

Do you know what the cost of a cab from POR to Chef Mickey's would be? We have an 8 AM there and I think getting on the bus that early will be too much for us.

Does anyone know if these cabs take Credit Cards? We try to keep everything on one card for the entire trip to track expenses.

It will be about $20. The Mears cabs take credit cards. I would just ask the driver to confirm before you get in the car.
