We are planning our cruise for next May or June (2004) and I am a planning freak! I have heard good things about the Passporter book for WDW and saw that there is also one for the DCL. Amazon has it for $11. Should I buy it? Should I wait -- will there be an updated edition?

TIA!

I just bought it at www.buy.com and paid $10.97 with no tax and free shipping!!!

This is the secone one I am buying...my first was absconded by my friend!!!!

They sold out of the first edition and are coming out with a second one. I think the updated version is out already, but I'm not positive. Check their website -- passporter.com. If you can, wait for the updated, but I think most of the changes were about the staterooms. It was a good book -- I enjoyed it! I recommend getting it!

Since you’re a planning freak (like me), you probably won’t be satisfied until you’ve got one. But, honestly, most of what’s in the Passporter’s Guide to DCL is also available either here in the boards, on the DCL website, or in other documents. I was a little disappointed by the lack of “original” material contained in the Guide.

Thanks everyone!

mshinrockford, you are right, I won't be satisfied til I get one. LOL

I have decided to wait a bit (our cruise is not til May 2004) so I'll be sure to have the newest info that may become available. I will probably order it in Sept/Oct.

Thanks for the input!

We're cruising in May '04, also (5/15 Eastern). I've been wondering the same thing about the Passporter! I'll be ordering mine in the fall!

:p

Hi NYDisneyMom --
We are looking at the May 1st Eastern (May 15th Eastern would be even better since that is my birthday, but then DD would miss her pre-school graduation).

Enjoy!

I too am a planning freak and I pretty much know the deal when it comes to Disney Cruises having been on 2 Magic and 2 Wonder. I really appreciated having the Passporter on the cruise to refer to. My DH would ask me every morning, 'What are we having for dinner?' I would just turn the page and tell him the menu. The only thing I wish it had was more planner pages to fill out.

Planning our first cruise for May 2004. Bought the book at Barnes & Noble last night, read all 208 pages in an hour and thoroughly enjoyed it and learned a lot. Not much I didn't learn on these boards but it just made me even more excited about going on our first cruise! I am like a sponge now, hooked on this board and just can't get enough information!!! Go get it and enjoy it! Lynn

A lot of the things I read in the books, I have also read here on the boards. But it also has other great info in it too. It's nice to have all the info in book form to take on the ship. It also has some nice checklists, etc. I'd definitely get one!

In March I went on my first cruise and I found it very helpful in planning. I didn't really start doing these boards until right before I left (I was a lurker). Because my friends were not as much Disney fans as I was, it worked out well, that I could let them know as much as I could and make the start of the cruise easier on all of us.

Now you guys have me wanting to go buy one today! ;) What's everyone think....will the Passporter be updated later on this year?

I recieved my Passporter in the mail 2 days ago and have already read it from front to back! I thouht it was a great resource with a few tips that I haven't seen on the boards. If you're addicted to the Dis boards like me or if you want to read every bit of information on the Disney cruises that you can, then this book is for you! I give it two thumbs way up! :)

I received my All Ears newsletter yesterday and the 2nd printing of the Passporter (updated edition) is out now.

Thanks..I think now I'll probably wait until 2004 to purchase it. Maybe I'll just go to the book store and read through the current version, while enjoying a cappucino -- someday!
