Is it going to be worth it? Even if I don't go back next year?

Salon Mickey is only open in the mornings I think, and I will be staying in DLH so will be pretty close. Would be ace to have the card though!!

£47 + the 30E membership fee.....

I'd say yes to be honest if you don't have an AP then you would be able to make use of all the discounts.

Will you be spending £700 total at DLRP? If you are, then it's worth it because you'll pay for the card.

If not, then it depends on how likely you are to return in the future, as it's £24 every 2 years there after, so is easier to make up that part of the cost.

Mmm, I dunno...but a daily coffee and snack would get to the £24 through to trip duration...

And surely I don;t have to renew until I'm going if I do leave it 2 years?

I voted 'it depends' for myself as I'm waititng to see what the poll says!

I would, im buying them after my January trip as a Birthday treat and i have no idea when my next trip will be after that lol

I voted yes. Remember regarding Salon Mickey that you can only visit 5 times within a month. You can bring in up to 3 guests or 4 family members :)

i voted yes, *** u dont have an ap do u??
i think its good, as u can spend at disney store in uk as well, and the salon mickey is good too!
i got mine, and maybe, i will get the extra shares at sum point so i dont have to pay the 30 eur next time..... i do think that it is good, as money of in table/buffet restaurants, and in the shops, along with any other benefits is worth it - plus it makes u feel good to be a shareholder :rotfl:

Wow!! I didn't know that about the disney store!!

I voted yes.

I bought the amount that was enough to not pay the 30 Euro charge. I worked on the principle that at the time of purchase buying the extra shares was equivalent to the intial joining and 3 additional renewals of the card.

I know that i will continue to be a shareholder for more than 8 yrs therefore its cost effective to buy the higher number of shares.

Definately buy the shares and if you can spare the extra £150 its worth buying the upper level to get free membership - providing you will use it for at least 8 yrs.

Plus, don't forget you won't have to pay another brokers fee to your bank if you decided to buy more shares later.

In my first trip as a shareholder i saved approx 250 Euros in tickets/meals/souvenirs - immediately saving more than the cost of the shares in the first place.

If you buy 20 shares you don't have to pay the fee to get the card.
Salon Mickey is fun, there are the discounts plus you get invited for special events. Last year, I even got two free day tickets! (which I gave to friends because we all have APs, but it was nice)
You also get a discount at the outlet village, and at other outlet villages from the same chain (for example the one in maasmechelen, Belgium)

You could also look at it as a nice DLP souvenir that doesn't really loose its value, because you can always sell the shares again.

two years ago, I have paid about 160 eur for my shares + bank costs, and I have made more than that with all the discounts.

See...I already have hotel, tickets and HB booked....so I can't save any more with regrds to those, and they are the bgi expenses..

What if I bought them in 'Disney' or even 'WDW' would that still allow me DLRP perks?

Coolio...worth an ask.

But you definitely get Disney Store discount?

I beleive you do, not sure that it's the UK ones or not but you definatly get the discount in the French ones.

Do you know what the price of the shares are at the moment? I'm still saving the money to buy them and hoping they don't go too high!!

How are you guys buying your shares? My wife bought me some as a christmas present a few years ago, but when they were taken off of the London Market, our broker told us we had to sell them (I was not happy). Please advise.

These are the reasons I decided to buy shares - tell me if i've completely looked at it the wrong way:confused3

priced up the HB meal vouchers for next Jan, 4 adults, 2 kids for 5 nights/6 days would cost
Premium - £730 for 5 nights or £876 for 6 days (wasn't entirely sure whether they worked it on days or nights!) - choice of 24 resturants (11 in hotels)
Plus - £440 or £528 - 16 resturants (7 in hotels)
Standard - £320 or £384 - 7 resturants (3 in hotels)

the excluded resturants are the same with the vouchers as with the shareholders card I think - Rainforest cafe, Planet Hollywood, King Ludwigs and Macdonalds, already have a discount voucher for Planet Hollywood anyway and not too bothered about the others.

as I've already booked Buffalo Bills for one night I didn't really think we would get the value out of the vouchers but with the shareholders card I would still be making the savings at resturants with the bonus of discounts on shopping. Plus discounts in Disney Stores Europe which I presume includes UK?

I'm not sure I would have got discounts on the accomodation etc as I'm sure the 'terms and conditions' mention max of 2 consecutive nights and not in conjuction with any other offers (also doesn't include transport from what I can make out) so presume I got a better deal booking using the 'kids under 12 stay, play and travel free' offer with exta night free. Also Buffalo Bills only cost £35 per adult and £26 per child, so depending on what exchange rate DLRP use that was about the same price using the shareholders card (but it only allows a max of 5 tickets!) But I might be cheeky and ring to see what discount I would get if I upgrade the hotel from what I've already booked!

So in theory I should make some savings on food and possibly not spend as much as the HB vouchers would have cost me, I'll save on shopping (yes there will be a lot of that going on:rotfl: ) and I can sell the shares at a later date and hopefully get my money back if not make a bit:woohoo:

So basically I only bought shares to get the discounts while we are there. We only have this one trip planned and I can't see us be able to go again in the next couple of years.

PS Davewasbaloo - bought mine via Selftrade - set up account online but rang to purchase shares, they're very helpful.

This is the page that tells you about the discounts

http://corporate.disneylandparis.com/shareholders/shareholders-club/discounts/index.xhtml

If you use the tabs at the top it also tells you about the other aspects of the shareholders club.

I bought mine directly from Caceis in France (i.e. not from my bank). Caceis is the registered share bureau that administers the Eurodisney SCA shares.

The contact info for Caceis is on the shareholders webpages somewhere (under coporate info and not the shareholders club). They do not charge you a fee to buy the shares (whereas selftrade or your bank will) but you do have to send them Euros, whihc your bank may charge you to do.

I found someone who spoke English there and who told me what i needed to do and she sent me all the correct forms (in English). I just filled them in and sent the forms back and wired the money to them. A few weeks later i received a paper confirmation that i owned the shares.
