Yes - it's another one of those "Should I buy the ticket now or hope it goes down?" questions! We are flying to Orlando Thanksgiving morning, and my daughter is returning home (to Dallas) the Monday after -Nov. 26. Airfares for Thanksgiving morning are pretty good, but the fares for returning Monday after the holiday are pretty high. (No - she can't go back on Tuesday.)
A few days ago, I bought her a one-way DFW-MCO ticket on Airtran for Thanksgiving morning for $104 plus tax, but the return non-stop flight on 11/26 was $206 plus tax. We have a $134 credit on American for a cancelled flight, and their non-stop times are better than Airtran's. Today the fare for AA's MCO-DFW afternoon non-stop came down to $206 plus tax (same as Airtran, but at a better time), and I could apply the credit to it. Just wondering if I should buy the ticket now on American for $216.40 minus the credit, or wait and hope AA's fares come down more? Even at this price, the total will be $331 - and last year I paid $301 on AA for her to fly down the same days at Thanksgiving.
