My favorite is beach club... but I see a lot of hilton head for sale (which is within driving distance for me by the way) at a much cheaper rate, not to mention the lower maintenance fees.

is it still not too difficult to get beach club within my 7 month period for sometime in say January or may?

We do not own BCV. We have gotten into the BCV for May vacations, we were there last week. We stay in a studio. I think it is going to be harder to do that though, and if you would be very disappointed if you weren't able to stay at BCV, I would buy there if I could book my vactions before the 7 month window opens for other DVC'ers.

I'm guessing you would be OK in January, don't know that for a fact. We're going MLK weekend, and are happy to stay at BWV, we don't expect to be able to swim that much and BWV standard view points are less.

It's not too difficult to get soemthing in January ar May at the 7 month mark, but there is no guarantee that it will continue to work that way - or that those times will always be when you want to travel. FWIW, as SSR sells out, it willbe more difficult to book the smaller WDW resorts at 7 months - those include BCV, VWL & BWV.

If you want to use your DVC points mostly at WDW, you need to seriously consider buying one of the WDW DVC resorts. OKW resales are a good alternative if you do not want to pay the higher price for BCV. In the long run, you'll be more satisifed with your purchase if you can be assured you will be able to stay a the resort of your choice.

Best wishes -

P.S. If you can't book more than 7 months ahead of time, it doesn't matter where you buy.

Buy where you want to stay!! That has been the advice from many DVC veterans.

We bought SSR site unseen. Well, we bought DVC without seeing ANY of the locations. We do not regret SSR at all. One day I hope that we will be able to try out all of the resorts, but I will not be broken hearted if we only stay at SSR. :)

We own HH, we have never had a problem at the 7 month window. I will say that we are not BCV or BWV people....we like SSR and OKW. These resorts have always been available. I will also say that I always calls at the exact day.

Now, if you plan on staying at HH during the busy season, I would go there. It is very hard to get during high times.

Keep in mind that one day Disney will stop supporting ROFR and Vero and HH will suffer the most as far as resale. Most agree that Vero and HH are more risky with regard to fees (HH is low now but weather is a consideration there as well). If you want to go to HH in the summer you should own there but I think the summer points for that location are way too much. I'd say you are better off staying there for $. Was it last fall they had 2BR for $99?

We own at BWV (std view advantage) and VWL (would trade that for OKW if we could). I am a big fan of BCV as well (for the warm months). We stopped by SSR last month and I thought the furnishing were nice and the pool was first class (a little small?). I guess I don't really get it though - I still see the DI I guess. For golf trips I would stay there but OKW works for that as well.

In and of itself, HH is the best of the DVC resorts. That said, you shouldn't buy there unless you've visited and decided you want to spend a substantial amount of your points there. To do otherwise would be penny-wise and pound-foolish.

Regarding long-term value, HH would stand on its own if Disney lost popularity over the years. It is a gorgeous resort in a hugely popular destination. The other DVC's would not (don't know about Vero, haven't been there).

I agree with "buy where you want to stay." sounds like HH may not be for you.

I own at HH, never been there, planning to go summer of 2006 and will have the advantage of the 11 mo. window which is very important for the summer at HH. I also bought points this past Oct. at SSR. I have stayed at both BWV and BCV booking at the 7 mo. window without a problem. However, if it's important for you to go at very busy times like christmas, you will have a very difficult time booking at BCV or BWV during that time. If you are flexible about where you want to stay at WDW, HH is a good idea due to lower maintainance fees.

If you can plan ahead buy where you want to stay makes sense. I have yet to be able to book successfully at 7 months or greater ahead...I wound up having to change something so I paid for an advantage I have yet to use.

Also...what do you mean by "driving distance"....if its pretty much the closest beach (like for me!) then there might be something said for it. Hilton Head is an in demand location for which you probably could make a solid profit renting out points. Even if WDW gets flattened by a category 5 HHI should hold on to some of its value. Plus if you simply think of it as any other timeshare when you buy then ROFR won't matter anyway.
