Should I buy a Premium or Deluxe Annual Pass?

Hi, I'm trying to decide whether to spend $225 or $165...

If we don't need the parking pass and aren't planning on visiting the park on Saturdays and holidays, is there any other good reason to buy the Premium Annual Pass instead of the Deluxe?

Are there that many more restaurant discounts to justify $60 more? We'll probably be eating at the Storyteller's Cafe and Whitewater Snacks, maybe a trip to Goofy's Kitchen and probably some other restaurants in the park. I'll need to spend $400-600 on food to earn my $60 back, approximately? What about the merchandise discount, is it worth it? Is there a handy list of exactly where the discounts are for 2004? Thanks for your help!

If you are sure you will not need the parking or that you can plan trips around all blackout dates then I would opt for the deluxe. You do get a few more discounts with the premium but not enough to justify an extra $60.

Ok, that didn't work.

Disneyland Annual Passport Holder Discounts

Disneyland Annual Passport holders get meal discounts at Disneyland Resort. Most restaurant discounts are subject to a $10 minimum purchase. None are valid on alcoholic beverages. Unless otherwise specified, discounts apply to the Passholder and the Passholder's dining party.

Disneyland Annual Passport holders qualify for the following discounts and deals at Downtown Disney restaurants:

Catal Restaurant and Uva Bar - Receive one complimentary appetizer at lunch or dinner for each two Passholders with purchase of two entrees, every day except on holidays or during special events

Compass Books & Cafe - 10% off food, every day

ESPN Zone - 10% off food, every day except on holidays or during special events, limited to party of 8

Haagen-Dazs - 20% off food, Mon - Thur

House of Blues - 20% off food before 5:00 pm every day; 10% off Gospel Brunch ticket (one per Annual Passholder, not valid on holidays or during special events)

Jamba Juice - 10% off

La Brea Bakery Cafe - 10% off food, every day

Naples Ristorante e Pizzeria - Receive one complimentary appetizer at lunch or dinner for each two Passholders with purchase of two entrees, every day except on holidays or during special events

Rainforest Cafe - 10% off breakfast and lunch, every day

Ralph Brennan's Jazz Kitchen - 10% off food, every day (max $40 discount, requires advance reservations to get discount)

Tortilla Jo's - Receive one complimentary appetizer at lunch or dinner for each two Passholders with purchase of two entrees, every day except on holidays or during special events (opens March 2004)

Wetzel's Pretzels - 20% off food, every day

ALL Disneyland Annual Passport holders get the following in-park restaurant discounts:

10% off at Plaza Inn and Redd Rockett's Pizza Port in Disneyland

10% off at Bountiful Valley Farmer's Market, Cocina Cucamonga, The Lucky Fortune Cookery, Pacific Wharf Cafe, Pizza Oom Mow Mow, and Taste Pilot's Grill in DCA

Disneyland Deluxe Annual Passport holders get the following additional in-park restaurant discounts:

10% off at French Market and Rancho del Zocalo in Disneyland

Disneyland Premium Annual Passport holders get the following additional in-park and resort restaurant discounts:

15% off at Blue Bayou Restaurant and Carnation Cafe in Disneyland

15% off at Ariel's Grotto, The Vineyard Room and Wine Country Trattoria in DCA

10% off at Goofy's Kitchen at Disneyland Hotel

10% off at Granville's Steakhouse at Disneyland Hotel

10% off at Hook's Pointe at Disneyland Hotel

10% off at PCH Grill at Paradise Pier Hotel

10% off at Storytellers Cafe at Grand Californian Hotel

10% off at Yamabuki at Paradise Pier Hotel

Some premium Annual Passholders report getting a 10% discount at Napa Rose at Grand Californian Hotel, though this is not listed in the official guides published by Disney. If you are a Premium Annual Passport holder, it is certainly worth asking the Cast Members at Napa Rose if they'll give you a discount!

Additionally, several MouseSavers.com readers have reported getting a 10% discount at Whitewater Snacks in the Grand Californian Hotel when they showed a Premium Annual Passport. While it is not published, if you are a Premium Annual Passport holder, it is certainly worth asking the Cast Members at Whitewater Snacks if they'll give you a discount!

Thanks for the quick replies and link!

What about merchandise discounts? Do you know if there are any discounts throughout the parks or Downtown Disney on clothing, souvenirs, etc.?

Great! Do you know if this is only at certain stores or all over the park?

Cannot be combined with other discounts or promotions. Not valid on artist originals, limited editions, Disney Dollars, or passes. This discount is available at:

Marceline's Confectionery in Downtown Disney

World of Disney in Downtown Disney

Most merchants in the theme parks and hotels (excludes Names Unraveled, Silhouette Artist, portrait artist in New Orleans Square, parasol cart, heraldry shop, crystal shops on Main Street and in New Orleans Square).

<font color=navy>You also get a discount at AMC Theaters Mon-Thu ... I'm not sure about Deluxe passports, though.

The mdse discounts are good for anything $10 or more at the shops at Disneyland, California Adventure, the Disneyland Resort hotels, and World of Disney at Downtown Disney.

You also get discounts at some of the kiosks, for instance, hair wraps (I've used it there before for my dd), but again, I'm not sure if only premium, or if also deluxe.

Thanks for the great lists. I know I read about it somewhere, but I couldn't remember where exactly. There are a lot of Disney boards and websites out there, and it's hard to keep track of everything.

Are there any current discounts on Annual Passes? I read somewhere that the SoCal Entertainment Book had a coupon, but after browsing the site, a search didn't turn up a discount.

Mary really has a great site!

Also from MouseSavers.com:

The 2004 San Diego edition of the Entertainment Book has a coupon good for $10 off the purchase of a Premium Annual Passport. Good for up to 5 Annual Passports. Present at ticket booth. Expires 11/1/04.
