Should I buy a new Magic Band?

I'm staying at the WDW Dolphin for my next trip, and I have an old magic band from my last on site trip in 2014. I know it will still work for the touch points to use my fast passes, but the battery is probably long dead, and I won't get any of the other interactive features while on rides. I don't buy any ride photos, so I don't need it for that. What would be the advantages of getting a new band, and do you think it would be worth it?

If you aren't into ride photos than I would say no. It is definitely a big advantage to have a working band if you do Memory Maker or something, but I wouldn't do it just for the interactive things (which sometimes aren't even on anyway). Also, it is possible your battery still works. If you plan to use it as ticket media, then just see what happens.

I would have to agree. If you are not going to utilize it for anything, no real reason too, but I agree with BrianL and would still take the old band as the battery is supposed to last a few years, some last longer than others. You never know until you try.

I used the old band during my 2016 trip, and it only worked at touch points for FP+ and for my ticket, so I'm pretty sure it's dead. :) It's the old design, not the 2.0 with the removable puck. Is the new design the same size?

Edit: Nevermind, I found the answer.. wider but thinner. :) I guess the only benefit to getting one would be if I wanted the removable puck design. :)

But what else are you going to need a new one for, since you're not doing photopass? I would bring the old one for admission and FP touch points.

We've been using our 'old' MB (purchased MH & PoC) for years with no issue.

Not a fan of the larger new MB, very bulky on a smaller wrist imo.
