should I bring my big camera to the parks or just a pocket size?

I have a DSLR Canon and a small fit in your pocket, point and shoot camera that has ok zoom.

I'm worried about the "no bag" rides and also the water rides.I'm a bit leary about leaving my good camera in a locker (don't have any non-riders to leave it with) and don't really want to stand in the locker lines anyway :) hate to miss the better shots and flexibility of the DSLR but wondering if I should sacrifice that for the easy of no lockers.

what about video cameras? most are small nowadays, but still wondering about the logistics of trying to get on the "no bag" rides with one. I originally thought I could just wear a big fanny pack, but some other threads have mentioned that a large fanny pack might need to be put into lockers.

Thanks for any suggestions/ideas from all you photo takers ;)

I carry a point and shoot plus our flip. Within the next few week I will be buying the new Kodak Playsport ZX5 so I can take videos on the water rides and pools.:thumbsup2

I love our Canon DSLR camera (best camera in the world, IMO). However, in the parks, I HATE IT! Its big, annoying, can't go onto half the rides. I'm worried about water rides, its bulky. If thats the only lose thing on me, I have to get a locker for it. I don't want it to break. I'm worried about putting it down for a second and potentially getting stolen.

Because of that, we bought a pocket Canon camera (SD1400), and am incredibly impressed with this tiny little thing. It fits beautifully in my pocket (I wear cargo pants), and I don't have to worry about it. Its tough, and it takes very nice photos.

Thats just my opinion though.

I have an older model the Canon SD750 and love it.

I would go with the smaller camera - by the end of the day you will not even want to be carying that! I took a video camera the first few times we went and found I was so busy trying to capture the memory that I missed out on experiencing it. Now I carry a little camera in a small vinyl bag with a clip that I hook on to my seatbelt during the rides and onto the stroller while we are walking.

thanks for the suggestions, I think i will go with just the smaller camera. I was leaning toward that, but good to hear what others have done.

I have a larger video camera. Sometimes I will just take it in the parks for a few hours to film, then take it back to the hotel room, then go back to the parks to really ride the rides and stuff without a camera. And sometimes, I'll take the small one, for enjoying rides and all.

if you take the small video camera, how do you handle the "No bag" rides? Is is small enough to fit into your pocket? or do you just hold onto it extra tight?

We take out HD Flip for video. We bought it 2 years ago just for the parks but ended up using it everywhere. Real cheap and fits in your pocket.:thumbsup2

I use a small point and shoot. I think it's a Nikon. I love it, and it serves it's purpose well. Easily fits in a (larger) pocket or purse and I don't have to worry about losing (or breaking - knowing me) an expensive camera.

No, I don't try to ride anything with the big camera. When I take a small camera, its a small digital still camera that's small enough to hold or stick in a pocket.
