If I can call CRO and get a AAA discount, what is the advantage to calling AAA and having me book a package through them? I want DDP too.
Wouldn't it just be a room only discount, so what is the advantage to booking a MYW package with AAA?

When you book with WDTC you book either a "room only" reservation or a "vacation package".

A room only is just that room only - no add ons - no tickets - no dining.

A package must have at a minimum 1 day base tickets to be considered a package.

You must book a package in order to get dining.

You can get an AAA room only d1scount through Disney any TA as long as there are rooms available for the discount.

You can only get an AAA discount on a package via an AAA TA.

I'm sure others will chime in if I'm incorrect, but WDTC can give you the AAA discount on the room, but won't let you book a package with an AAA discounted room.

So, if you are interested in a MYW package (ticket and dining) plus the AAA room discount, you would need to book it thru AAA.

I was told that dining was available as long as I was staying on resort property....It might be different for FL residents???? It was offered to me as I booked with Season pass.

Mishia:confused3

Thanks for the input...Is the AAA Package discount any more than AAA room only discount? Do they discount other parts of the package other than room? Tickets? Any other advantages to booking package through AAA? Thoughts?
Thanks..

I'm thinking that you can't get the discount if you go with a package....it's either the room and ticket discount or the package.

Florida residents can get ticket and room discounts however, the pass discounts are the better deal!! HTH...clear as mud now??!!!!:thumbsup2

You can book a package through AAA and you get the discount off the room price not the entire package. We just booked through AAA this weekend, got 7 nights @ POP w/ 2 adult 8 day PH's and DDP and 20% off the resort for $1599. Saved $130 over 7 nights (20% off the room rates).

the discount is the exact same amount if it is a room only or a package. It is a certain percent (depending on resort type and season) off your room or the room portion of your package.
ex. 1 Room only 3 nights at Pop Century in regular season -
Rack Rate = $99 per night
3 nights with tax = 334
aaa discount (15% off) = 50
aaa room = 284

ex. 2 Package 1 adult, made up ticket price, ddp, 3 nights Pop in reg season
rack rate room = 334 (see above)
ticket = 165
ddp = 117
total package = 616
aaa discount = 50 (see above)
aaa package = 566

while aaa does offer discounted tickets, the discount is very small, only off certain types of tickets, and is not available with a package.

make sure you seem to have a willing to work with you aaa agent since if new codes come out that are better your aaa agent can update your package with the new code (forgoing the aaa discount) and since you will not be able to make changes yourself.

aaa perks include a special story time with a character (limited admission so very nice), aaa parking lot, diamond discount card (small discount on shopping at downtown disney, discounts on tours.

the AAA parking lot is at the parks only, right? is there AAA parking at the resorts?

at the parks, sometimes somewhat closer than regular. We found that we arrived real early first thing in the morning there were sometimes some better spots in reg parking open that we walked past but not always was there any reg parking between us and the gate. And usually if there were, they were full...obviously there may have been a random spot open but hey this was the easy sure thing. We drove to the parks mostly since we would rather that than deal with the buses. We just liked that once we got to our car we were out of the crowds.

The diamond parking is close to the handicap parking. I also rec'd a $25 gift card for booking with aaa

I have booked my reservation through AAA. Although I could have booked direct through Disney and gotten the AAA discount, if free dining were to be offered I wouldn't be able to keep the AAA discount. Booking with AAA givces me the discount and they will be able to apply the free dining if offered. The discount is for the room rate only.

If booking through AAA, when do you get all of the extra's. I made final payment and received confirmation, but there was nothing about a diamond parking pass or special story time, etc. When does that arrive?

I have booked wiht AAA and got a discount on my entire package plus dining.
I priced online wiht disney and went in a said if you can beat this I will join. ON our first trip we saved 300 per package.

I recieved my story hour pass and parking ticket when I recieved my travel documents. You should ahve gotten them then as well as a discount card for DDD and a Planet Hollywood card for a free meal or something like that (we didn't use it). You then have to make a reservation for the story hour because it is not held everyday and they limit the number of participants. My daughter loved it! Aladdin was the reader and then he took pictures and signed autographs with the kids. Really nice touch. So check with your TA if you have recieved final documents. Have a great trip!:wizard:

rdsx28, were you happy with your AAA agent? Did you book online with AAA or go to an office? If you were happy with them would you mind telling me what office you used? (either by PM or in this thread) Thanks!

you can use any aaa agent throughout the country. Last year I used one in new jersey. Many people on here have passed around the name of the one I used this yere who is now 'local' to me in south carolina, another in North carolina, and one somewhere I think in the jersey area. If you dont like the way things are sounding call another one anywhere. Some will charge booking and mailing fees (my jersey one surprised me with this fee, although she didnt charge it when she realized she hadnt forwarned me...as far as i'm concerned that should have been in the quote) but the one I use this year doesnt charge any of that and has mailed me 2 sets of 'confirmation' of the the reservation since i had to change it and will be later mailing all my travel docs. Call around.

when you book thru AAA can you make your ADR's like you would normally (as you would if you booked thru Disney)? Or does your AAA travel agent have to book your dining?

Actually you can do it either way. When I worked for AAA, I would always offer the service, but sometimes clients wanted to do it on their own. That was no problem! The only time I would not offer it is if we were about a month out and they were going in the busy season. It is so difficult to get some restaurants (Le Cellier sells out EVERY night! as does the castle)
So, as long as you aren't going into your reservation itself (which you don't for dining reservations) you can feel free to do it on your own. :cool1:
