Should I be nervous about Onboard Airline Check in?

Is it possible to use DCL transfers only one way?. Its cheaper for our family of 7 to do a car service or rental car to the port but wouldnt mind paying extra on return trip to MCO for the convenience of not dealing with our bags. Anyone have any experience doing this. Will be flying Jetblue which is a participating airline.

Yes, you may do DCL transfers one-way. Cost is $35 per person each way ($70 round-trip). To/from either MCO or WDW.

Enjoy your cruise!

I'm trying to sell my husband on the idea of using the on-board check-in, but he's wary of leaving our bags out in the hallway. Do they stay out there long, or does the room host whisk them away as soon as they see them in the hall?

Everytime we've put our bags out, the room hosts were already in the hallways picking up bags. They don't stay they long in our experience.

You could always put zip ties on them if that makes you feel better. Also the day you board the ship your luggage is delivered just outside your cabin door so unless you're sitting in your room all afternoon, at some point your luggage will be out there. We've never ever had an issue with cruise luggage in 13 DCL cruises, 3 on Carnival & 2 on RCCL.

There are times that I'm still packing and want to quick put something in a bag I put outside and when I go out there, it's gone. They try to be prompt in removing luggage not just for luggage security but also the hallways are narrow & get even more congested with so many bags out. It would make navigating in a wheel chair or scooter very difficult if they sat out all evening.

Ours were picked up very quickly. We were going back and forth between our two rooms getting things organized and saw the room stewards picking up bags almost as quickly as people put them out. You will probably even see your room steward in the hall and you can let him/her know yours are ready and they would probably take them right then for you.

Just make sure they are out during the designated times (for us it was 8:30 - 10:30 pm). That is when they will be in the halls looking for them.

Most people leave their bags in the hallway the night before even if they are not doing airline check-in, so that they do not have to take them to breakfast and carry them off the ship in the morning. If you aren't doing the airline check-in, you would pick up the bags inside the terminal when you leave the ship.

We were nervous about using this service for the first time too, but everything went off without a hitch. You do get a luggage receipt with your airline tickets just like you do at the airport. They stored all the luggage in a manned area in cages that are picked up by a transport service. The best feature is not having to drag around all those bags until you can check in.
Thanks for asking this question, it never crossed my mind. The answer was just as helpful, thanks again!

Why bump an old thread when you have a new question? Many of these new posts are posturing before a spam post.

Actually, I usually see that a spammer has bumped it, the spammer gets deleted, and THEN people start responding.

You can spam without doing real posts ahead of time, LOL.

We encourage the "search" function all the time. It's great when people use it.

Only issue is when info has changed, like Airtran *existing*....
