Should I be concerned? Canadian question

Just so I understand, if they ship them to the resort, does that mean you shouldn't do online check-in (or that there's not benefit to doing so)? I'm so confused about that and the magic bands.

If you want to do online checkout then do do. We're from Canada, did online checkin and they handed us our bands at checkin at the resort. The way you checkin has nothing to do with getting your bands.

Online checkin may or may not speed up the process. The system had not kept our CC info and some other errors so the checkin was a bit longer to fill in and fix the info.

Are there other advantages to checking in online other than speed? I assumed the big one was that if you already had your magic bands you could go to the parks first and then straight to your room.

It lets them know if you have any requests (of a certain set list of requests), it lets them know what time you anticipate getting there, you can give them a CC for room charging if you wish...those are the big ones. Online checkin was possible and useful years before MBs showed up.

I have my 60 day deadline next Monday and am also Canadian. I know we don't get the magic bands until we get there but what about the luggage tags? Do we get to use the Disney luggage transfer system or are we responsible for bags as on a normal flight?

If you are leaving from Canada, the magical express tags are useless. You can only use them on domestic USA flights. We fly from Detroit or Buffalo most times, so we are able to use them. If flying from Canada you'll need to retrieve the bags yourself. The souvenir luggage tags we received at the resort as well since they are now shipped with the magic bands. Everything was flawless got an email about 5 days before my arrival that they were at the front desk.

We've always used our yellow magical express tags when flying out of Toronto, and we've never retrieved our own luggage.

WestJet, SunWing or AirTransat out of Toronto for me. I have been flying out of Buffalo recently, but I know friends who have flown WestJet as recently as August and used the ME. Did you give Disney your flight info?

I have a package on Westjet out of Halifax on a direct flight so they should have all the info.

Hmmm. I don't know about Halifax. I thought I remembered reading somewhere that there are different rules for certain Provinces regarding the ME. But I could be totally wrong. I only know about Toronto. Hopefully someone else will chime in.

Most Canadians can certainly use their yellow tags and take advantage of the luggage resort transfer. However there are certain restrictions. You have to fly from or connect through a Canadian airport which has preclearance for US Customs and Immigration. And your flight has to arrive before 10:00 pm. If you have to clear customs in Orlando, you don't use the yellow tags at your departure airport.

I agree, we have used them every time too out of Pearson.

Thank you. Halifax has pre-clearance and we are traveling in the morning so it would seem that we qualify for the luggage tags and pickup.

If you clear customs and immigration at a Canadian airport, like Toronto's Pearson, you can use the luggage tags. Airline is irrelevant.
