Should I add QSDP?

I'm in two minds....

We have a stretch in the middle of our next trip which is 11 nights at the BW.

We'll have a TiW card and only have like 4 ADRs for the time, so don't need Regular DDP.

But I'm wondering if we'd be wise to get the QSDP for those 11 days? We'll be in EPCOT a lot, so I figure it'll be good for meals around WS, and also a lot of Earl/WPE....

What would you all do?

depepnding on cost....
you will struggle to eat all that food, SS/WPE etc give massive meals, add snacks and drinks, you can make a saving IF you are dining on site...
you might want to go off site and do IHOP GC etc.
do a mock up of where you will be and what you would eat and see if its viable.
me? i would do it, with the kids just makes life so much easier and means im not hunting for money everytime they want a icecream etc.
we did alot of research on ddp and made it work for us...however we still ended up with 18snacks and 8CS left at the the end of two weeks...
its an each to their own ?, i love the ddp, even if its not always the best deal financially it saves alot of hassle when on site- where time is money:goodvibes
tracy

I think its something you need to try work out yourself as we all have different eating patterns and preferrences.
We wouldn't enjoy 2 counter services a day.
Without DDP we would prefer to eat offsite.
Paying OOP we wouldn't eat dessert at lunch or have a large drink each so on DDP is food and drink overload.
I believe adult price is $32/day, for us that would be $96/day, we don't pay that for a CS lunch and offsite TS in the evening.
We enjoy the regular DDP when free but wouldn't pay for any of them.

We'll never be offsite except for our US/IOA day.

Probably should have mentioned that.

I like the QSDP. It worked well this last trip because we used a CS meal for breakfast to split between us, sometimes supplementing the b/fast with a fruit bowl or something like that with a snack credit. Amazingly we actually got through all our CS meals and definitely saved money (I haven't done the math yet, but I know we did better than a breakeven on this trip). It was the snacks that were left over in abundance this time, despite not purchasing drinks and things OOP so that is where we need to check carefully whether overall it was a good saving.

What I must add in all honesty is that we ordered more food than we could eat this time. Whether you order a meal and waste 80% of it or leave the credit lying on the table when you check out, either way, if you pay for more than you need it is still a waste.

As Wayne says, it is a very individual thing based on your party, your eating habits and even your itinerary for while you are there and the only way to get an idea is to do it yourself.

What seems to be apparent is that the threshhold for savings on the QSDP is very limited compared to that of the regular DDP.

I agree with it being an indivdual thing and based on your partys needs and eating habits. I find two full counter service meals for both me and my daughter to much and 1 is plenty to share, the size of the soda and portion of fries are far to big for a child, my daughter is allowed one soda a day on holiday but not one that big! We tend to do things like get 2 burgers and 1 portion of fries or at epcot we share one portion of fish and chips.

We wouldn't like two QS meals a day so it wouldn't work for us, but if that's how you're planning to eat then I can't see the harm in doing it. PLUS, its the perfect excuse to keep going back to the Earl if you have credits that must be used. . .! (By the way, I tried his Holiday sandwich last week . . . OHHHHHHH!!)

If anyone plans trips to EofS then QSDP is definitely not the way to go, Sandwich, soda & dessert works out at approx $11 incl tax, they won't even allow vitamin water on the DDP, out of all the places we ate Eof S was by far the worst value for credit.
On the other hand anyone planning a few trips to WPE they are more likely to get value from QSDP, our bill in there was always around $70 for 3 of us.

why EofS restrict there menu to DDP is there popular and can do it
As for doing QSDP wouldn't do it, but each to there own

I couldnt eat 2 counter service meals a day for more than a day, I don't think I cope without proper cutlery :lmao:

We struggled with desserts last year with one counter service meal a day they were just really unecessary so for me I would not bother I just think its too much junk food. You can use TIW at some counter service, not sure on the ones on the boardwalk?

If you have AAA you get 20% at the Swan and Dolphin you might want to try Picabu its the food court at the dolphin and looks pretty good and is open 24 hours a day :)

Thanks for the great input everyone.

I crunched the numbers and I really can't see we'd ever get close to the $68 a day on CS and snacks to make it worth it. I can see how if you had children in your party it would be much easier and I think it was reading reports of parents with young families that made me consider it.

Thinking back last trip we did share CS a lot.

Gemma - thanks for he tip about the Dolphin will be our closest food court really so will take my AA card. :)

I think with your TIW card you will also be better off without the plan anyway. DD and I share quite a lot and we were throwing a LOT of food away, hardly touched by the last few days. We had 4 ADRs (was 6 and cancelled 2 due to the volume of food) and had we paid OOP, we would NEVER have ordered that amount of food. We were saving our desserts as snacks so we were hardly touching snack credits and had 40 to use in the last 3 days :scared1:

You could always put your food money onto a gift card when you get there if it helps you feel you have it prepaid and all the dining money in one designated 'account'.
