Hi! I'm an AP holder going to WDW next week! We have the dining experience card, but I'm thinking about adding on the dining plan. Is it too late? We arrived on Tues. night. How much would it cost one adult, one junior and one child for 5 nights? Is it too much trouble to deal with? Thanks for your opinions!

Hi,

We're also AP holders going next week (Friday). We considered the dining plan, and we were told by a CM that we had to add it on at least 3 days before our check-in date. So, if you're arriving Tuesday you need to add it on by Saturday at the latest, or Friday to be safe. The dining plan is $39.99 per adult (10 & up) per day, and $10.99 for kids 3-9. So for 5 nights you're looking at $454.85. If you have an ADR for every day of your trip, it will probably save you money, depending on where you're eating. It is definately convenient, because most of your meals are pre-paid. You get one table service, one counter service, and one snack per day-a lot of people use their snack credit for breakfast items. Hope that helps. :)

Disney Visa has free dining, are you aware? We found it to be a better deal to get the FD and we have the AP and TinW card. We were at a value for 54/night w/the ap discount and the FD was just 193 more for the 7 days!

The dining is $37.99 for 10+ and $9.99 for 3-9. Your room only has to be cancelled and refunded and the AP dining package has to be payed in full. You also have to do it outside of 72 hours from the arrival date

After figuring out the meals we want to do, they cost vs. OOP with 20% discount, I doubt whether I'd save much. My main problem is the my 9 year old eats like an adult- salmon, steak, lobster, etc. and I'm the one who would end up with chicken strips and mac and cheese! I knew about the free dining, but you would have to pay for it on Visa and we actually have enough Disney Dream Dollars to pay for the room and the meals! So, I didn't want to pay for it and use my points later. That is the way I talked my DH into this trip.
