My DH and I are still trying to finalize our July trip as it's our first time flying with the baby. I have never purchased summer airfare this early, but I know that fares are increasing. I went on this morning to book my flights, and they increased by $20.00 per person - just checked now, and they increased by another $6.91 making for a $26.91 increase in a few hours!

Oh well! We are still working out a few details, so I guess I'll just have to wait it out a little longer - hopefully the price will go down to what it was a few days ago. A summer seat sale would be even better!

Sorry about that. It's really a gamble, isn't it? If I were you (and of course, I'm not :wink ) I think I would eat the $26 difference and book it now. I have a feeling with gas prices, the flights are just going to keep going up.

Are you the one flying out of Detroit? (sorry, I get people mixed up here). Try Spirit again. Or, another possibility, depending on where your coming from in Ontario is to try flying out of Flint. If that wasn't you in the other thread I'm thinking about then you must think I'm nuts

You may want to compare Spirit Airlines price. I frequently find them cheaper than Northwest from Detroit!

Being that I'm from MN and NWA is just about the only airline we can fly with good times and decent selection to Orlando, I totally feel your pain. NWA has a choke hold on MN and I don't see it going anywhere soon. But, Inoticed the increase in prices in just a matter of hours myself while booking a flight to NYC in May, so I'd say book now just to be safe.
OH MY GOSH...this is my 300th post!!!

I have a feeling the difference is the latest round in the airline $10 at a time price increase. Airline one goes up $10 and waits to see if everyone follows. If this is going to stick you will know in a few days. If all the old major airlines don't join the $10 increase then the rate will go back down.

I saw an article in the paper indicating that on some routes the rates had crept up $50 by $10 incremental increases.

I just checked the flights I book a couple of weeks ago on NWA. They are up about $40.
