Ok ladies...this question is for you! I need shorts for my trip. I don't wear shorts in the summer...I wear skirts. So I have TONS of them. Having said that, I have no business wearing skirts in WDW because no one needs a peek of that while I'm getting in and out of rides and all that fun stuff.

I can't wear a bermuda short because I have short legs...don't wanna look stumpy (:rolleyes2 I know, I know..it's not a beauty pageant, but I wanna feel good while I'm there too...and those pictures will forever be in the albums of my extended family). So...what are your faves?? Anyone try the twill shorts that I see at oldnavy.com for $17.50? They look cute and heck...they're cheap enough!:thumbsup2 My only concern with them is that they are too lowrise and I'll be..umm..showing London and France when seated. Here's a hint: I hate shopping in department stores, so if I can stay away...I'm gonna!

So...any suggestions on where to check or what you may wear??

(I don't like calling myself Pooh sized, but I'm a size 16 if that may help with suggestions ;) )

How about skorts? They come in all length and you will look like you're wearing a skirt, but have the coverage of shorts underneath. If you have a DOTS store up there they have cute styles & are very inexpensive, but you can find them in most all stores. HTH.:)

I tend to not do short 'shorts' so to speak. I like capris and just above the knee type of shorts (not necessarily bermudas so much as more cargo like). I've found Old Navy is a good place to go shopping for that particular type of garment. You do have to keep checking back, though, as they are constantly getting new stock in. What they have online is not a good indicator of everything that can be found in the stores.

Thanks for the feedback! I've tried skorts in the past, but I've always found them to be too much material...too much going on...though VERY adorable on others, wish I was comfy in them! It's funny because I work at a clothing store, but our shorts are too long for me...hit just above the knee, and I have to say...my legs are one of my best features! Old Navy is directly next to my store, but for whatever reason...it is the MESSIEST Old Navy I've ever been in. If you find your size, it's usually because you've pawed through all the crap on the floor (this is especially true if you're shopping clearance). I typically just wait for free shipping or find a coupon and order online. Maybe I will venture in tomorrow...we're getting a big storm and no one is going to be up at the mall except us lucky ones working! Makes for some nice "no-other-customers" shopping. I DO have some fabulously comfortable poplin capris..just hoping that I don't get too hot. It's been 10 years since I've been to Disney in April, so I don't really remember the weather. Compared to Maine, it'll probably feel like I'm walking into a steamy, massive sauna! But boy am I excited!!! :woohoo:

I'm a size 14/16 as well and I never love shorts. I am a skirt girl as well. I love the skorts they have at kohl's they look like cute casual skirts but have a short uhttp://www.kohls.com/products/product_page_vanilla3.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=408655357&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=421016237&bmUID=1172800246852nderneath!

I know you hate dept. stores, but JC Penney is a great place to shop. Great prices and great variety. I also *love* Kohl's, which has been suggested already. If you have one near you, definitely check it out. Wayyyyy better than Old Navy and you'll find lots of variety there in all kinds of sizes.

Good luck with your shopping. :wizard:

I am a size 14/16 and I wear capris, and I am also 5'3" so I also have short legs, and i found the capris at target that are a nylon matereial are a perfect length. I also like skirt but I will wear soffee shorts underneath. hope this helps!

I am short and find Penney's petite shorts work pretty well they aren't too long. LL Bean and Land's end usually sell their shorts in 2 lengths. When I find a style that fits I will buy 4-5 pairs! I also often turn a single hem under on a lot of shorts when you are 5 foot that inch makes a real difference in how they look.

I use skorts as well, and love them. If you dont like skorts why not try your skirts, but put a pair of athletic shorts or cheerleader shorts underneath. I think I have seen them at sporting good stores in all sorts of colors.

Wear your skirts! Just buy cheap "bike shorts" or volleyball spankees to wear under them to avoid chafing. Usually bike shorts and spankees have the little sown in panty liner too.

That's just what I was going to suggest! When I wear skirts in the summer, I always have inexpensive, cotton bike shorts on underneath. So much more comfortable (physically and mentally)!

I never thought of that! Great tip. :)

I have a weird shape. I have smallish legs but a bigger tummy so shorts and pants tend to look off. I usually wear skirts too because they fall better. Capris make me look stumpy. This year, it's skirts!

My body shape is similiar (I call it an ostrich body). I have had great luck at Lane Bryant. They usually have different lenghths for women who are petite, average and tall. They also have a website that you can check out. Good luck!

If you like skirts, wear skirts! I third what was said above. Wear shorts underneath if you want modesty. :)

I know you mentioned you weren't a skorts fan, but I wore some last year I purchased at Kohls' on my trip and DH loved them. I actually got complimented by a gentleman who said he liked my outfit. :confused3

i've worn skorts for years (looks nice, plus has the coverage of shorts underneath) - last year, did something different: wore thin cotton skirts - while they were very comfortable and breezy (with no additional material attached), felt like i was putting on a "show" each time i got in or out of a ride vehicle - somehow, they seemed to get shorter and shorter.... anyway, i'm back to skorts for the next trip!
