Shortest Notice ever for a DVC Trip?

I saw the same thing about an hour ago, trying to decide is the hardest part, we live in Ankeny. Good luck!!

GO FOR IT!

I just got a new job offer today, and will get all the details of my new job tomorrow. So depending on when I start and all the details, will determine if I go or not.

We got SSR once in Oct about 3 days out.

Last year around Christmas time there was a major storm predicted for the day (Saturday) we were scheduled to leave home. I called MS on Friday morning and was able to get that night added onto my reservation (EDIT - at AKL Jambo). Called around 9:00am and was checked in by 6:00pm.

I was glad I left early. The storm hit and locked up air flight for 2 days.

Shortest for us was the day after hurricane Charlie visited WDW. We had been staying at SSR and checked out the day after the storm. Orlando International's website said it was open and Southwest said our plane was to be ontime. Got to the airport and it closed just as we got inside due to tornado's and did not know when it would reopen. Skipped the inside lines and walked up to the Budget kiosk in the garage and rented a car and the wife called DVC as soon as we got out of the garage. Member services switched her to the front desk at OKW and the nice CM lady there said to ask for her when we got there. Walked into the Hospitality House and asked for the CM who my wife had talked to had us all checked in and the room was ready. So, left SSR about 9 AM, went to the airport and back and were in our OKW room by 11:30 AM. We wound up staying another week.

How about 4 hours? In February 2001 we were paying cash to stay at the VWL. We did the DVC tour and we told them we would buy if they found a way to convert the rest of our trip to points. ON Monday night we stayed and paid cash. On Tuesday night (the night of our tour) we stayed in the exact same room on points.

As I've learned more about DVC over the years, I can only imagine how hard it was for the DVC Guide to pull it off but at the time it seemed pretty simple to me.

I just booked Labor Day weekend 2 days ago. Had my choice of SSR or OKW for all 3 nights in a studio, Sept 4-7. The night of the 6th was open with BLT all views, BWV, and AKV. Night of the 5th was sold out with the exception of SSR and OKW. I was able to split my stay with SSR and BCV on the last night. Love them both and since I have a late flight out, I can chill at SAB on my last day. Normally dont like to move but this will work out great for me this trip!

Maybe it was your story I remember?

I remember reading something about somebody stuck in an airport in or around DC. They could either wait until the next day to fly the rest of the way home or they could fly to Orlando that night. Guess which flight won. :rotfl2: They called Member Svcs, made a ressie at a DVC resort, hopped on the plane to Orlando, and had a lovely, impromptu weekend vacation at the World!

Now THAT'S an impromptu Disney vacation! :lmao:

This is why I love being an OWNER!:wizard: I had friends staying in Cocoa beach and I was able to call same day and book their room at BWV for the night before their flight. They got to hang out at WDW for a day and had a great time. For many reasons, I was happy to be able to offer and could not do that without my DVC points:goodvibes

I've called and added on days for our trips many a time. I love having DVC for before and after our DCL cruise. There are just so many ways to use our points!
