I was wondering what the shortest notice fellow Disers have made a DVC vacation? I know that DVC isn't the best for short trips, but let me hear it.

Allegiant Air out of Des Moines put on there website $19 one way fares to Orlando, for almost the whole month of August. DW and I are on the fence if it makes sense to go? But the 3 of us can go for under $200 RT TOTAL!

we got back from our cruise on July 3rd & came back with $= me in planning mode for quickie adult only trip for DH's next week of vacation last week in July, well before i had all the laundry done;)

problem was most of the studios were spoken for (except SSR & it disappeared by end of 2nd week), most of the 1 BRs too. Glad we had a bounceback offer to use:thumbsup2

im thinking August will probably be easier to book last minute as many areas start school 2nd or 3rd week of the month...good luck:wizard:

It wasn't a whole trip but I decided to go to WDW a night early after a conference in Tampa so it was 4 hours from the time I reserved the room to the time I checked in. I had choices of BWV, SSR or OKW. Then I moved to my previously booked room at BLT for two more nights.

August 2004: We had two nights at Vero Beach starting "same day" as my phone call to Member Services.

The pool heater at Kidani was broken, so while I was at DTD (after it looked like the pool would never get warm) I decided to call the 1800# from a payphone and changed the rest of my nights to SSR (where we LOVE to be), and checked in.

Maybe it was your story I remember?

I remember reading something about somebody stuck in an airport in or around DC. They could either wait until the next day to fly the rest of the way home or they could fly to Orlando that night. Guess which flight won. :rotfl2: They called Member Svcs, made a ressie at a DVC resort, hopped on the plane to Orlando, and had a lovely, impromptu weekend vacation at the World!

Now THAT'S an impromptu Disney vacation! :lmao:

I just called MS and SSR has a studio available for all 3 night! Also, the flight wouldn't get in until 10:40pm, so if I wanted a cheaper option the first night, VWL has a studio available for the last 2 nights!

OH MAN!!! WHAT TO DO!

We booked a 2 night stay in 2 weeks. We didn't have anything like fares like you have mentioned...if those ever showed up for Dayton, I wouldn't have any hesitation to trying to book a room!

I was able to book a single night for my DSis about 5 days before she wanted to be in Orlando. The next night never showed for them but they had a great off site rate, but used the whole second day of the 1 nights stay enjoying the resort's spa's amenities.

I think it all luck of the draw - you never know when someone may cancel and open up a room at the same time you are calling to reserve.

I actually bought DVC in early Dec 2006. The day before Xmas, my husband says "let's spend New Year's in the Magic Kingdom" - I figured there was no way we would get a room, but I called - I was able to get a studio at SSR for the first 2 nights which was Dec 29 & 30 (it was a 3 day weekend) - they told me this was the last room available - nothing at all was available for Dec 31 - so I booked the first 2 nights at SSR and then we had to move to a Courtyard Marriott for New Year's Eve night, which was a little bit of a hassle, but we stayed in MK until well after midnight, so we weren't in the room much. You just never know - you might get lucky.

Less than 24 hrs. A friend and I grabbed the $20 RT fares from Jetblue in May. It was a one day only sale, fly anywhere in the US. We took our girls for a one night trip to MK. The poor husbands had to stay home, but other than that, it was great! Of course only SSR had availability, but we didn't mind at all, I highly recommend it! Grab those cheap tickets and head down for a few nights, it'll be a great little break!

We once called the day before for a Labor Day reservation. It was when the airline was on strike, and we had to adjust our dates to take a flight on a different carrier. That meant we had to arrive a day ahead. I just called that morning, and low and behold there was one available, and we snatched an additional day to our 1 bedroom villa!

I've gotten same day reservations a few times. We live in Tampa and we'll travel over for a day trip but then decide we want to stay the night. I've gotten both BW and AK.

That's wasn't me but it sounds like they came up with a great solution for what was going to be a big inconvenience. :thumbsup2

Last December 15 I decided that we should have a Disney Christmas; December 22-26. I was able to get $74 each way on SWA and with a little work BWV for the last 4 nights of our stay.

OMGoodness!!! Goooooooooooo!

We decided to leave a day early for a trip in Dec. 2009 and were able to get a night what we have just come to refer to as "The Lodge" We Honeymooned at Wilderness Lodge - and had the most amazing week at Disney ever - so to get a last minute Studio reservation at the Villas was in short - AMAZING!

We called as soon as member services opened - and then checked in at 4:00pm - same day! We were amazed!

It was a great trip - One night at VWL, one night at BLT, three nights on the Wonder and then 6 nights at Jambo House Villas. It was amazing!

This Nov./Dec we are spending 7 nights at BWV in a 1 BR and then 7 nights on the Magic! :)

1. Twice - Was at DTD for the day, DW and I decided to stay for the night. Called directly to OKW (It was a Sunday before 1800 was working on Sundays), was able to book, and be at the resort in 15 min.
2. Did the same thing using 1800 for a stay at SSR.
3. On the way home from a trip up north, called HH directly on a Sat afternoon and was able to stay their that night.

I saw the same thing about an hour ago, trying to decide is the hardest part, we live in Ankeny. Good luck!!
