Shortening reservation/free dining?

I'm looking at booking for late Sept. 2011 under the free dining promotion. Since the days my airline will be flying at that time won't be posted for several months yet, I was wondering if I booked a longer stay with the free dining promotion, could I then drop days either at the beginning of my stay or the end without losing my free dining (assuming I am still going to arrive before the last day of the free dining promotion)?

Generally, yes, if it's more than 45 days before check-in.

That is exactly what I did. We booked 2 weeks around the 7-10 days we planned to go. $200/package is what it is whether it's 7 days or 14 days. Once the flight schedules came out and we knew exactly which days we were flying, I decreased our reservation.
