Short Trip Report

[My 2 princesses]

Thought I'll give you a short trip report, of what I remember (yes, the heat probably made me forget a few things along the way).

We arrived on the 7th a.m. Long line up at the DME counter. Anyway, we did make it on time for our 2:10 lunch ADR at Crystal Palace (we were early actually). On our very 1st day, 5 year old DD saw a bug in the washroom and freaked out. I just stepped on it and was hoping we won't see another one, which thankfully, we did not. TA requested a pack and play and I asked for one at check-in and we never did see one our entire trip.

We did quite a few character meals and found the food just okay, nothing really to write home about. We got DDs hair cut at the Barber Shop and she received quite a few compliments. On the other hand, some ppl did not even know there was a barber shop. Thanks to this board, I knew!!

One night after dinner at Chef Mickeys, we got to ride up front on the mono rail. DD was thrilled with her co-pilots licence. We tried to be the conductor on the Magic Kingdom train as well, but the CM was either deaf or just ignored me I'll be the 1st to admit that I am very soft spoken and did get a CM at a counter service station tell me 'I can't hear you Ma'am', lol!!

At DHS, DD got to say 'welcome to the little mermaid'. She was all excited to do this, but kinda chickened out a bit after she saw the crowd. Either way, she was very happy with her certificate signed by Aeriel. Throw in the divers and the personalised menu and it was a great trip.

DD cried her little heart out when it was time to leave. We are now looking to go back soon, thanks to SWA's credit that I have. Now to just figure out when we wanna go.

Very good start to your trip report.

How long did you stay and did you stay on site?

I didn't even know they had guest conductors for the train. That is good to know. Yes, I have learned much from these boards.

I am interested in knowing about your reviews on where you ate and stayed. Our trip isn't until January, still it isn't that far away.

Glad you had a good trip. I am not too suprised that the buffet food was just "okay", I guess that's normal for buffets. Did you have any table-served meals?
I knew that you could ride up front on the monorail, but not that you got a license! My l/o would think that was so cool. We are taking the monorail to Chef Mickey's for his birthday, I will have to try and do that for him!

Since we went with a 5 year old, most of our ADR's where character meals. The only one not a character meal was Coral Reef. And we just loved the personalised menus and divers - my DD was thrilled.

We took the monoral for our Chef Mickey ADR and that's when we got to ride up front. Yes, they give you a small card (like a business card) which is your licence. Enjoy your trip.

Welcome home! Can I ask the age of your other princess? I am curious about travelling to Disney with a baby or small child. We have a five year DD and one on the way and I want to start planning a return in the near future!!

With no pack and play where did your younger DD sleep? What resort did you stay at?

My 2nd DD will be 8 months end of this month. Thankfully we do a lot of
co-sleeping, so it was not so much of a problem. However, I really missed her crib/pack and play for when we were getting ready to go out. You know, you do need somewhere to put the wee ones while you get dressed, makes it faster to get out rather than taking turns watching the baby. But we survived and had fun and thats all that matters. We stayed at Pop.

We took a stroller for our 5 year old as well. I thought DH was nuts when he wanted one for her, but let me tell you, she was so comfortable and could sleep well in her Mac, so it was a good thing in the end. Only problem was when returning home and both were asleep, then it was quite a task carrying both of them, folding strollers etc. However, on many occassions, we had ppl ready to help us!

Can I ask, how did you travel? I assume you flew? If so, did you buy a seat for the baby or hold her on the plane? Did you have to take much in the way of food for her, like jars and such? Did you ship any supplies ahead of you? Sorry for all the questions, but did you use a sling or baby backpack at all? Did you and yoru family take many breaks during the day?

We flew out of BUF on SWA. I did not buy a seat for her (please, no flaming). We had a very comfortable flight and she slept most of the way, esp on our way back, she slept the entire flight and only awoke because we had to carry her.

We shopped at Walmart in BUF. I normally buy the Club Pack diapers from Superstore, but I was not taking chances, so I picked up a packet of Luv's (love them, BTW) from Walmart so it was nice and compact to fit in my luggage. Someone here told me that Gerbers baby food in the US comes in plastic containers. I picked up some of those, but could not find any of the meat dishes in plastic, so I picked up a few glass ones and got DH to nicely pack them and they did not break. Plus we were feeding her muffins/bread/mashed potates etc from our plates. DH of course, was feeding her ice cream I guess at some point he thought lets give mom a break, lol. No, we did not ship anything. In fact, we only went with 2 suitcases and yet we were all clothed with different clothese every day and the baby had tons more, just in case she messed up. I also took a back pack for the park with my diaper back pack. DD is not too crazy about her Snugli, so we left it back (she's 20 pounds, so even I was feeling squished jsut looking at her in that thing, lol). We did not take much breaks - if she slept, I just left her with DH and took the 5 year old with me (gotta admit though, you can do a lot more w/o baby, but I will not leave her back with anyone, that's just me). Our only break was if/when big DD slept in her stroller. And we still felt like we did not see much and need to go back It was very, very hot, so the indoor attractions were a great hit. We did a lot of shows as well, though baby DD got to go on Peter Pan and Aladdin and Dumbo and some others. She just loved the rides.

Thanks for all this great information! You make everything sound so easy, although I am sure it is not! I have heard many people say that it is great to travel with an infant, but your details really help me to get a good picture of what to expect. Thank you for that. Did you have a good server at the Coral Reef? We were there the same day and our server wasn't very good. We actually prefered the character buffets. The Coral Reef was the only restraunt that the chef did not come out to discuss what my lactose intollerant niece could eat.

Our request for connecting rooms wasn't given at POP either. They did offer us other rooms a few nights later but it was just as far from Classic Hall and all the way on the other side of the resort-so we didn't bother, just more of a hassle.

I found our server had too many tables to wait on - she seemed rushed and spoke so fast as well, lol!! She even told us that she was wondering when the divers would be out as she was waiting to serve us our dessert. After this I felt like I was being kicked out of there, lol. While leaving, at around 2:10 or so, there was a family sitting outside with a red haired little girl. I did not think it would be you as your ADR was for way earlier, right??

Too bad about the connecting rooms as well. I really would have liked a pack and play, but was too lazy to complain. I should have insisted on one.

How did your diver work out?? Were the kids surprised?

I like your report! Short and to the point. I talked DH into going to the Little Mermaid show on our last day and it was a very cute touch w/ the intro!

Since some asked, here you go.....(keep in mind this whole trip revolved around our 5 year old).

We had lunch at CP, Dinner at 1900 Park Fare, Dinner at CM, Lunch at Hollywood and Vine, Breaky at Ohanans and lunch at Coral Reef. I found CM to be very, very rushed, esp Mickey and Minnie. They just wanted to do their thing at each table and leave. Hollywood and vines on the other hand, they spent so much time at our table and kept coming back. Plus their 'act' was very often - I found them very interactive.

For CS meals............well, portions are HUGE. DH and myself could share a meal, lol. We had lunch at Pizzaria (sp?) once at AK and there chicken ceasar salad was huge, but good. For something different, we ate at the food court in Epoct (I think it's called Sunshine) and the Chinese food was pretty good. On our last day, we had some credits to use and we ended up at the CS place near the Indy (is it called Cosmic Rays or something like that?), well portions are huge here too. We had one chicken and rib meal and one rib meal and it was way too much for 2 adults and 1 kid. We had left over credits which we used for rice krispies before leaving.

BTW, we stayed at Pop Century and the food at the food court was okay for lunch/dinner. Breakfast was very very crowded. The refillable mugs was a no brainer for us - we really made use of it esp for coke after a very hot day.

We did have to wait at that restaurant. It could have been her. Did the girl you saw have very curly hair and red glasses? She was wearing a yellow and green sundress.

I remember looking at my watch and wondering if you were still there. I figured you had already finished by the time we were seated. The diver came shortly after being seated. The children had just opened up their menus and were looking at the pictures of themselves. Then the diver was at the window by our table. I did get a photo of the diver with the message. My neighbours were quite impressed with the menus and the diver, it's too bad the server wasn't very good. They didn't like EPCOT much after that. They didn't even go to EPCOT for our second day. The husband really was looking forward to seeing EPCOT and wanted to go after seeing the other parks, even though it wasn't in the schedule that I planned out with the EMH (they like to sleep in). We only made it to EPCOT on our 7th (6th park) day of being at WDW.

They must have liked WDW enough as they booked the bounceback for next year!

I had enough snack credits that I bought a box of the dairy free chocolate chip cookies my niece liked.

I really did not pay attention to her dress, but there was one lady (there were 2 sitting next to each other) who had a red shirt on and I was looking for it to say 'Canada' on it, so I could walk up to them, but it did not, so I chickened out, lol. I might take a peek at your pics on photopass to see if it was the same family or not. Would have been nice to 'see' you off line, lol
