Hey everyone,

My mom and I are taking my niece and nephew to Disney for the weekend in October. We are leaving after school and going to MNSSHP Friday night then spending the day at DHS on Saturday before returning home Sunday morning. I wanted Sci-Fi for lunch on Saturday but nothing at all is available. Because of time and trying to save a little money, I'm only interested in doing one sit down meal for this trip. So it can be something on Saturday or a breakfast on Sunday, not necessarily a character breakfast. And it doesn't have to be at DHS either since we probably won't be staying all day.

Any recommendations would be great!

ETA: The kids are 7 and 5 and we are staying at POR.

These are all the table service meals we enjoyed on our trip in July, either in resort hotels or DHS:

-Breakfast at Hollywood & Vine (at DHS with Playhouse Disney characters)
-Breakfast at Chef Mickey's (Contemporary resort, character meal)
-Dinner at 1900 Park Fare in Grand FLoridian (with Cinderella, Prince Charming, stepmother and stepsisters...I have 2 little boys who enjoyed it)
-Dinner at Boma at the Animal Kingdom Lodge...we liked it but it is African themed and we have sensitive stomachs so we both had heartburn that night...but they have a nice selection of children's foods as well and my sons enjoyed that

The rest of our TS meals were either at MK or Epcot.

If it were me I would do a nice breakfast at Boma on the day I was leaving. There are plenty of really nice CS places to eat at

I was not sure if you had done any meals before or not, but our personal favorite is Chef Mickey's. The food is good and the characters are wonderful. The kids are at such a great age for this. We always do Chef Mickey's twice on our trips, once always being dinner and once always for a late breakfast on the day we leave. It adds such a wonderful touch to our trips. I think you would love it.

I would choose Cape May Cafe for breakfast! That is the best place to eat of any meal at WDW!!! DD17 loves it so much we usually have to do it several times!!!

Also, your famiy may like Rainforest Cafe since it is so much fun. We're going here for lunch before we do MNSSHP.

I know I'm in the minority here but I am very anti-Chef Mickey's. I've eaten here quite a few times with lackluster experience but the most recent was just the worst and I have vowed to never eat there again. So-so food, bad service and horrible character interaction. I do however LOVE cape may for breakfast...have always had a great time there both for food, characters and service.

Boma might be fun....have heard good things about their breakfast.

You may be in the minority, I may be, I don't know. For our family, we have been there 12 times and have 2 more scheduled this trip. We have never been disapointed in the food, service, characters, anything. Having said that, everyone is different. That is the beauty of a place like Disney. There are so many options for everyone's tastes. That is what makes these boards kind of difficult, you don't really know the people to know their preference. I think we just give out our opinions and they have to make the choice that is best for them.
To OP, take all this advice, then check out the menus on AllEars and whatever you decide, I hope it is a wonderful experience for your family.

We found Cape May nice, good food & good service but so quiet & boring. Just my opinion. You got to go what works for you. Boma is good to.

I love breakfast at Boatwrights at Port Orleans Riverside....and it's a very pretty resort to just walk around.

'Ohana, either dinner or breakfast. Dinner features open-flame cooked meats brought to your table- all you care to eat- and sides. appys, and dessert. There are fun games and other kid-friendly entertainment at dinnertime. Breakfast is a character meal with Lilo, Stitch, Mickey, and Pluto. The food is all you care to eat, brought to your table.

We seem to do b'fast, dinner, or both on every trip.
