Short term free parking?

Our plans have just changed. We are arriving in LAX on Aug 8th and have to get a rental car at the airport instead of getting picked up by family that live in the area. I previously ordered Park hopper tickets through Getaway and decided it may be best to pick them up at guest services (later in the trip we are staying at an offsite hotel nearby) on our arrival day now. Is there some place to park in the area just for this purpose without having to pay an all day parking fee?

You can park in DTD. There is an hourly fee, but they will validate 3-5 hours for shopping/dining. That is the only place I can think of to get free parking...as long as you are able to get it validated.

The DL website says you can park at the drop-off area (15 min limit) to buy/pick up tickets. I don't have any first-hand knowledge as to whether that's accurate.

There is 15 minute parking on Harbor, it is sometimes busy. If you can't find a spot there, you can park for free for two hours in DTD. It is a longer walk than the 15 minute lot on Harbor.

DTD offers 3 hours of free parking, not 2. You can just park in DTD and get your tickets that way.

Thanks to everyone. Just in case it takes longer than 15 minutes and or lot is full, I think we will park at DTD and walk over.
