Short Reservation Timeframe??

We are currently going through ROFR. If everything goes through as planned we should close mid-October. We would love to plan a short trip mid -January to use some of our points. Think there's any chance of booking four or five nights in a one BR at only 3 months out? Resort doesn't really matter b/c we hope to eventually stay at them all to try them out. Only problem is beginning of trip would overlap MLK weekend by a day or two. Any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks in advance!

It is definitely worth a shot. Your most likely option would be SSR. I've done SSR at 3 months before at some fairly high DVC times with success. I can't say first hand for MLK weekend though, maybe others can vouch for that weekend itself.

Also a 1 bedroom is usually the easiest room to get so you have that going for you as well.

I'm in a similar situation - just passed ROFR last week (yay!) and waiting to close. We are heading down to Orlando the last weekend of January for the Harry Potter Celebration at Universal (staying on site there for 3 nights, traitor), but want to spend one night at the end in a DVC resort as new members. No Disney parks, just visit each of the resorts to check them out. I think it will be a Monday night, so I'm hopeful I can find something.

Our first contract we closed in dec. and was @ SSR in Feb. Things can happen.

We closed last January and got our member the 2nd of February- I called to get my member Nu
Verandah they let me book right away- and was able to book a split stay for feb 23 to march 1 at akv/BWV ! Anything can happen!

The key is to be flexible and diligent. Always keep searching. I had a cash reservation booked, but purchased resale and got my points six weeks before our trip. I booked us at three different resorts in four different rooms, which we were okay with. With constant searching, we ended up with six nights at BWV followed by six nights at AKV. It can be done, but it won't always be easy.

The second weekend in January (Marathon weekend) is all but totally booked. Outside of that, you should be able to get something.

I got access to my member number about 8 days before my first DVC stay (3 days in an SSR studio, and 1 day in a 1 bedroom in HH area of OKW) in the end of January.

I think your odds are very high other than the holiday weekend. I'd simply have a game plan of preferences and once you get in, make the reservation ASAP for the first thing that works. Then wait list if you have different preferences.

Most of January is pretty slow. As long as you don't try for the marathon weekend or maybe MLK weekend, you probably can get something, especially if you are looking for a 1-bedroom not a studio and aren't picky about where you are staying.
