Stayed for 6 nights at the Hard Rock. Spent two half days at each park and a day at Downtown Disney (did Cirque-it was awesome!!)

Hotel: Loved the HRH: Faced the pool, so noise is a problem if that kind of thing bothers you. We were in 1130 on the bottom floor towards the walking path. Not the most scenic floor, however very easy access to the path-just head down the hall opposite the lobby and as a bonus we were able to pick up the free WiFi in our room. Also steps from the pool. Pool was great, had a funny DJ from 4-8 every other night and a dive in movie every night. Expensive, but good efficient food and bar service. I could have lived by the pool in the evenings.

Staying onsite: No other way to do it in my opinion. Worth every penny. Short walk or ferry boat to anywhere you wanted to go. Early admission to HP world which is the only way to do it and FOTL unlimited access meant we never waited for anything and were able to enjoy what the hotel had to offer. Could have done each park easily in a day, but was nice to break it up and not have to stay all day.

Food: Mythos was good, Bubba Gump was our favorite, Hard Rock was very good and Three Broomsticks was good counterservice, however I would go early (like 10:45) or you will have crowds. Loved the Butterbeer!!

Parks: Loved Hollywood Studios the most (if not for HP world). Was most impressed by Forbidden Journey, Revenge of the Mummy and Twister. Liked Spiderman, Simpsons and Disaster. Everything else was alright.

Overall impression: Definately a different vacation from Disney, but in a good way. Much more time to stop and smell the roses and relax and enjoy being on vacation. Some very good rides and atmosphere (exceptional job with the HP world). If I had to do it again I would have planned three days total and only gone once to Islands of Adventure (however you take a chance of FJ not being operational on your early entry day, and that would stink!)

Leaving today after work for 7 nights at HRH club level....havent been to Universal in a long time ..cant wait :thumbsup2 ..sounds like you had a great time.
