Short Points

I want to make a reservation for Feb and I am short 5 points. I am pretty sure no one will sell me 5 points. Can I buy points from Disney or do I need to pay cash for a whole day ?

Oh, go ahead and post it on the rent board. Not everyone anticipates alot of transfers and may help you out. I would at least give it a shot.

You can't get points from Disney but you may be able to get a few transferred in.

You don't say a lot about the trip you want to take. Are you short after borrowing or is it you don't want to borrow? How about the resort? Can you stay at one that takes less points per night? Could you stay in a value resort for one night and then have enough points for the rest of the trip?

How about borrowing from the next use year? We borrow all the time from one contract or another.

Could you try and rent that one night from a member and then have the reservation linked? Then save or bank your remaining points into the following use year?

If you don't want to rent the 5 points, you've still got a few options.

The easiest? You can borrow 5 points from your next use year. Hopefully that won't leave you 10 points short next year.

Next option? You can use points for all but one night of your trip, and pay cash for the remaining night. Just ask member services to link the reservations together so you don't have to move for the one night. And don't forget to bank the remaining points to your following use year.

Third option? Stay at a different hotel the first or last night of your visit. The usefullness of this option depends on what time you arrive/depart. For example, if you arriving flight doesn't get to MCO until afternoon/evening, just get a cheap room at an offf-site hotel. Then the next morning, get to WDW early and check-in.

Unless 5 points will get you a night, they won't do you any good. If you rent the points, you'll need to rent an entire night. Then bank your leftover points.

I'm quite sure the OP is a DVC member. Since she said she is short 5 points, my assumption is that she wants to get 5 points transferred into her account. Then she will have enough points to complete the reservation.

Thanks everyone. I have posted on the rent boards for the 5 point transasfer.
I got an offer for 4 but with the new transfer rules I need the whole 5 in one transfer. I will wait to see if someone has 5 left over they are not useing them. I need some Pixie dust, wish me well. Thanks again.

i have 12 points that expire on 3/1 - but cant be transferred - PM me if you want to try and figure out a way to make this work...
